For what the bug out is, it’s way too expensive. It should be less than $100 for what it is and I know people are going to be mad at me, but there’s knives that have the same materials that are less than the bug out and that are way better than the bug out, the bug out was way cheaper like less than $100. I might buy one.
if they should start selling s30v knives at 62 hrc, i would be ok with a 180 quid bugout. but not at 58-59 :/ for this price, i would expect hard magnacut (63+, not just on paper, but really hard MC)
@@mikeappleget482 i’m talking about the cheapest version of the bug out that’s still like $100 and that knife does not feel like $100. It should be less than $100 cause I can get a knife like the bug out the cheap version for cheaper, but it’s way better built.
@@imiszasz2442 a few days ago I saw somebody test a bunch of different knives and I was shocked when I saw Benchmade’s S30 coming in a hair over 58hrc. Even the budget brands were hitting 60 - 61hrc on their S30.
I have to agree. I got a mini bugout for like $190 and a para 3 a few weeks later for about the same price and i then had major regrets with the mini bugout. Its nice but its only s30v with a plastic handle. Should be about $80 not $190. I got caught in the hype and brand name. I've been more impressed with civivi knives, especially for the price.
Well done, Sarah . Good job by both of you . I'm looking for my next knife now . I have purchased fixed blades lately . It's time to go back to a folder ..... Thank you .
Blade HQ videos just got better. Yes the following statement is sexist but I am so glad to hear the perspectives of a woman who is into knives. Knife collecting is not just for men. When I'm doing research into my next purchase I really appreciate getting a wide range of opinions. I find that women often pick up on things that men overlook. Thanks Sara you clearly know your stuff. Sharp blades all.
I have a few PM2s in different steels / blade shapes n love them, n recently picked up my first ever CRK Sebenza, got the large with ebony wood inlays 💖
While George had huge shoes to fill it was still the best from the old days when we had more presenters. It covered more different areas and likes along with easier to play off each other.
So cool to see both a Sebenza & the Ultratech on the top list still but it’s a travesty the 940 didn’t make it. My personal favorites in my carry rotation: 1. Sebenza small w/ Insingo blade 2. Microtech Ultratech w/ bayonet blade 3. Benchmade Osbourne 940-1 (with S30 blade swap) 4. Hinderer XM-18 3.5” w/ Wharncliffe blade 5. Spyderco Para 3
For ME 1. Spyderco Shaman 2. Spyderco PM2 3. MT Hera II or Ultratech 4. Benchmade Griptilian 5. Gerber Gator Serrator for me it is a great knife for dressing
I have 3 Bugout’s, and I bought my Dad one: two green, one black mini & the one shown. I also have a Jade G10 940 Osborne. I have a Spyderco PM3 with aftermarket Jade scales.
I do not know if I won't ever own a microtech. I recently purchased a Kershaw livewire for under $200 and it is a wonderful knife, with magnicut for the blade.
The Bugout may make people wonder about the price for what you get. What you get is bedrock reliability in a folder that slips into your pocket and disappears until you need it. It should be the first knife in any collection for users who do not regularly use knives for work. If you buy it early, it may save you from buying a bunch of other knives that will just sit in their boxes or in a desk drawer. Usability and portability make the Bugout my most regular daily carry.
The Bugout is an optimized light weight knife. I've been carrying a Delica since the late 90s and it has never let me down. If you look at the omega spring on the Bugout vs the spring on the Delica you know which one will last. Lately I've been carrying a Meadowlark which has a terrible handle because sometimes other people will trash your knife
@@raul0ca I love the Delica. It was one of my very first knives, and it has the best ergonomics for my hand. It just melts into the grip like butter. I agree with you about the movement on the Delica. Even when you slow-roll that open, there's a reassuring clack that sounds like a percussion instrument.
@@Cletus_the_Elder Haha I do cheat on Spyderco and buy ESEE non-folders and survival kits. Nothing like going out to the middle of nowhere and trying a survival fishing line or route finding with a tiny compass and map
No buying a Bugout won’t save you from buying a bunch of other knives that just sit in their boxes. I have a shelf in my cabinet dedicated to knives I have purchased after my Bugout (my first nice knife purchase).
No. I like both. But I will give you I like the compression lock more for sure, it’s just much nicer having a proper detent. I also very much like the new Vosteed button compression lock, the new raccoon with it is amazing
The MSI should definitely be on this list, I really hope someone makes micarta scales for it. For the Spyderco’s the Manix and Manix XL should now be rated higher, stronger lock, much better value. Especially the crucarta versions being the same price as the base para 2 and 3
Can we make a petition to get spyderCo to put more ball locks like on the manix 2 it’s my favourite lock they make and I’d love it on other Spyderco platforms.
This video just reminded me how disappointed i was with the bugout. Still sits busted in my safe. So many better options idk why im a sucker. Edit: I think it just needs a new $5 spring but still.
I think its the hype and when a knife cannot live up to that. For me it was the CRK Sebenza. It is nowhere nearly worth that price. But what IMO kills it, is the clip. And yes, some people love the clip, but I don't. Too sharp, too grabby (I actually lost my CRK on the first day because the clip snagged on something and it pulled the knife out of my pocket without me noticing. Fortunately I found it again)
I ordered one because everyone said how wonderful it was. And I got my hands on it. I felt like it really sucked. It was light. The scales were very flexible and it just did not strike me as a good tool. I will sometime carry it when I go to the gym because it is light sits on my shorts without any difficulty.
😂 if all you need is an omega spring just call Benchmade and once a year they will send you a replacement part for FREE.... That's dumb on you for just letting it sit and coming on here complaining about you being lazy
@buckfiden946 At least your honest. I guess I'll remain poor and just stick with knives that I use everyday. Make sure to get some pink bedazzled Ti scales for that.
How many times do people feel the need to post the same comment "BeNcHmAdE oVeRpRiCeD" 🙄. We all get it that you don't like the price. You what normal people do in that situation? They walk past it and don't buy it... They don't stand around so everyone can hear them repeat repeat repeat the same crap... No one cares that you left your individual comment,no one reads why you think they are overpriced and no one cares what knife YOU think is better. I personally think Mercedes Benz is overpriced for what you get but you know what I DON'T do? I don't stand out front of the dealership telling everyone why I think it's overpriced and why I think they should buy something else because that's straight up weird. Now go back to your anime or Soldier of Fortune magazine and calm down.
I don’t get it with Chris Reeve knives, Ive handled quite a few and $600 o can’t see it. Maybe years and years ago it was the pinnacle, but today there’s so many options as nice for less.

This was awesome, Sarah did really well here explaining things from her pov.
Sarah really did great well here!! And you really get the impression she actually uses and knows these knives! She should be featured more!
Sarah should have a full time spot as a presenter
Agreed.
She's nice, but her voice is so monotone 🤮
@edwardfletcher7790 I disagree her low voice is soothing. And as for many a little training will get her going.
Came here to write this.
I agree because she said in Auto knife has so much in common with a fixed blade...😂

My list..
1. Sebenza
2. BM 940
3. PM2
4. Gerber Propel Downrange
5. ZT 0450 CF
Some 🔥🔥knives in there!
S.OG. Trident, Case Trapper, Buck 110, Leatherman OHT, Gerber Hinderer.

4. Benchmade Griptilian
5. Gerber Gator Serrator for me it is a great knife for dressing
Love my Bugout after adding Flytanium scales.
I knew when I came to the message board to give her respect that people would unanimously agree, happy to see I was right for once in my life
I don’t have enough money for all the knives I want!! That flytanium is sweet. Love a drop point blade

I have a Spyderco PM3 with aftermarket Jade scales.
What do you like better
I have a BHQ EXCLUSIVE S45VN Malibu.... love it sooo much
Still love my blackened PM2 with copper scales.
The bug out or mini bug out are my edcs most of the time.
Bench made 550 and Para 3LW simply working knifes
Sarah is good ! They make a good couple presenters for the people !
Very well. I just a bit in love withe the Chaves Redention Dual Grind. With the skull clip. Extra quality, extra cool knife to ..! ^^
I do not know if I won't ever own a microtech. I recently purchased a Kershaw livewire for under $200 and it is a wonderful knife, with magnicut for the blade.
My god that first sentence is structured so confusingly 😂😂
I have many microtechs, the Kershaw live wire is a better OTF, hands down. And for the price, it shouldn’t be that good.
Those are knifes for collectors. It would be nice a video about the 5 must have knives for users.

is there a release date yet for the gen3 ultratech's?

WINKLER AXE w/ lost lake camp knife.
CRK LG SEBENZA PDW WAVES
TRC knives APOCALYPSE

Sebenza

PM2
Bugout
