    The design of this module is one of my favourites, as I really like having tunnels on layouts!
    I was rewatching this just for some techniques on building up terrain, and it dawned in me that I don’t think you ever did a video where you went back and added more detail to this module. Perhaps you can have the “Building A Modular Model Railway” series come back for an episode or two!?! 😃 I also know you have that viaduct that you built, but couldn’t use, and an idea I had for that is that maybe you could cut the viaduct in half and have it take up two separate modules, and have it so you can chose whether to set the viaduct up instead of the fiddle yard or station modules?!
    These are just some ideas, and I’m not at all forcing you to do them! It’s your railway, and as we all know, building a layout is not cheap, and I know you are busy right now with your TT project!!

    • @ThatModelRailwayGuy
      @ThatModelRailwayGuy  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      So long story short, the real push with this layout was to get the scenics mostly complete for the exhibition which meant I didn't really have time to revisit some of the first modules as I'd originally intended.
      That said, I am planning to make some improvements and upgrades across the entire layout once the TT layout is done. I have considered doing more videos on it in the future, it's whether the work is enough to warrant an episode or not. Thanks for watching 😃

    Beautiful job, That Model Railway Guy. Scenery is very convincing, I'd say. I used to run real dirt through a fine strainer, made it a little easier to apply. The dry stone wall is great, worth very penny. Very convincing as well.

      @ThatModelRailwayGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Both of the first two big pieces of styrene had square gaps in the slope that were filled in later. I think I would have left one of them open and used the shape and a few well placed elements to suggest the footing of a long abandoned building in the countryside. In fact, I thought maybe the holes were there on purpose until they were filled in.

    • @ThatModelRailwayGuy
      @ThatModelRailwayGuy  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That was just the shape the polystyrene came as part of some packing material. For me this layout has always been a "less is more" endeavour and so with the Tunnel already taking up a lot of real estate on this module already I didn't want to cram too much in, especially as there are buildings near the lineside on other modules too. Of course the great thing about model railways is that we all do things differently. Thanks for watching 😃

    A useful tip re the dirt scatter that you used, that I saw on another channel (not that I can remember which one), if you put it on a baking tray and stick it in the oven to dry out it will also kill off any potential bugs and other microbes that could otherwise damage all your hard work

    • @ThatModelRailwayGuy
      @ThatModelRailwayGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi, haven't seen a video of you continuing the modular layout for a while? What's your plans for this?

    • @ThatModelRailwayGuy
      @ThatModelRailwayGuy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Terry, good question! So over the Summer I was busy building my 009 layout (you may have seen that series) which took up most of my time. Work has been slowly progressing on the modular layout since then - mostly with boring things like tidying up and simplifying wiring, making minor repairs or improvements - stuff that isn't worth making a video about really.
      However, all that is in preparation for me to do all the scenic work on the rest of the entire layout. What I'd like to do is film several videos all in one go and release them weekly (like I did with the 009 build) That means the updates will be more regular rather than having just a video once in a blue moon!
      Obviously that means I've got to find time do a lot of work on the layout first but I'm hopeful I'll be able to start soon - it just may be a while before the progress appears on the channel. It is coming though and the project certainly hasn't been dropped - in fact there may be some extra exciting news to share about the modular layout very soon. Hope that makes sense and thanks for watching 😃

      @@ThatModelRailwayGuy that’s perfect Thankyou. Would you be kind enough to tell me where you got the various packs of grass (and which length) as well please? Also also the spray glue and brown paint... sorry I’m trying to put a shopping list together! :-)

      @@chickenbites8877 You’re probably best off checking out my Static Grass Tutorial Video: th-cam.com/video/9Gb2bMfve0s/w-d-xo.html All the info should be in that and I also go into more depth about how I do it. Hope that helps 😃

      Haha! Honestly, not that much. It was about a quarter of a standard litre bottle I think, although I wasn't really keeping track. Still got plenty left though. Thanks for watching 😃

    This hobby is now so expensive when it comes to engines and rolling stock.

      Hey Ian, I think generally you're right and certainly there seem to have been a lot of recent releases that have been close to (or exceed) £200. But there are locos out there like the new J27, the Hornby Terrier or the J15 which are all excellent models that are under £100. And if you really want to take things to the extreme the Budget Model Railways channel is a great one to check out. Thanks for watching 😃
