I’ve always wondered how animals process trauma in their minds. It must have been so scary for them especially if they’ve been ripped away from their families and now they don’t know what’s going on. I’m happy that people are out there doing what they can to help these beautiful animals
@@shay5839 I don't care what you think. Monsters don't exist but humans do. Go volunteer at an animal shelter and then you tell me how you can actually care about humans after that. So many humans aren't human.
Thank you for doing this story and highlighting the poor animals who needed to be rescued and were fortunate enough to survive. Unfortunately there are so many more out there, please keep up the great work reporting and sharing the need for fosters, adoptions and hopefully reunifications.
I hope owners get priority on reuniting with their pets. I know of instances in the past that new adopters denied them. Wonderful news that these animals were saved😊
Yes, two of our awesome rescue in Palm Beach county were up there rescuing these precious animals. Big Dog rescue ranch and Furry Friends were filled to capacity, then tornadoes destroyed them from hurricane Milton. This really hurts.
Fostering a dog untill rightful owner can be found is proper. However, people don't even have a place to sleep right now. It's heart breaking. Strong willed hard heads going to stick this out and rebuild. Character of strength Stronger then Wasabi.
It's fairly common in disaster situations like this for county shelters & other animal rescues to transfer adoptable pets to organizations out of the affected areas so they can house the displaced/separated "owned" animals & wildlife.
I just evacuated Florida and took my babies, two Beagles with me. Could not consider leaving them behind. I’m sure most of these babies were accidentally separated from their parents. No one just leaves a pet behind.
My understanding is those animals were already available for adopting before Helene hit & they are relocating them to provide space for pets. Hopefully pets would be reunited w/their families when possible. Until then they will be cared for by rescues nearby.
What's wrong with you? You don't know what anyone from the disaster areas tried to do. There's over 230 accounted for deaths, last I saw and hundreds are still missing. How is this so hard to understand? I guess I just don't have it in me to understand how there are people who can be so cruel to others who have lost so much. It has even been reported that 11 people from one family have lost their lives, but all you can do is try and shame victims.
Have you stopped to consider maybe some of their owners did? I sure there were parents who held onto their children also. How can you come on here and say something so cruel after everything they are still going through? You don't know what you would do if you were in their situation.
@@PamMinnick right because when you have kids there is absolutely ZERO space in the leg room of the car to put your dog. Be for real, these people didn’t really care about their animals
Hurricans appear every year in the US, and every time they get noticed to evacuate, but every time they don"t seem to think I need to save and protect my animals too. How come??
That really would have made sense to lead with the news that you are freeing up pets that had already been held in the affected locations Animal Control Facilities. Yes but unfortunately chipping isn’t as universal as it should be. Also the chip can be damaged…unfortunately that usually means the dog is..unalived because they’d have to be damaged significantly for the chip to be damaged as well. So unfortunately they can’t always find them even if they’re chipped :((

He said these were from a shelter that they were in before the storm. They are trying to free up space for the pets that are separated from their owners.
Yeah, but notice how SPADE AND NEUTERING was forced upon lost, family pets, prior to giving ANY time to find their families!! That’s just a classless act!!!!! Shame on them, despite the rescuing!!!!
1. The “owners” left them behind to d ie in a hurricane 2. The “owners” either already spayed them or planned on doing backyard breeding which is extremely unethical Conclusion : The “owners” do not deserve these animals.
Do you realize how many unwanted dogs and cats are born when pets are NOT spayed and neutered? Often this is because owners cannot afford the cost of surgery.

It wasn't clear until the end, but these were shelter animals, not lost pets.
Thank you! I was initially thinking - if you abandoned your dog to save yourself, you don't deserve to get him back!
Some did, but many people did not abandon their pets. They were swept away by raging currents just like people who drowned.
Great work❤! I think Napoleon has a new dad:)! They clicked!

They check for microchips, if the animals don’t have one then they don’t have an owner
That dog isn't a mix! He's a German Shepherd!
That is what I was thinking!
Long haired German Shepard. Just like my AKC registered girl.
"Let Meowt." Said the kitty!
God love those fur-babies 🙏
I can't imagine how hard its going to be to locate your pet if its missing...
I wouldn’t stop searching. Day and night calling her name
If it is microchipped eventually the owner will be notified.
Always microchip your cat or dog. Only costs like 20 bucks and makes all the difference if lost. You never know.

Baron!! Napolean needs to go home with you. You have stolen his heart.....💙💙💙💙💙💙
Something tells me reporter Baron would adopt Napoleon the Shepherd if he could... will he do it?
Is there any effort whatsoever to reunite them with their owners??
The last point mentioned they are unhomed pets making room for the influx of hurricane stranded pets.
I’m sure that they’re checking microchips. It’s the owners job to get their pet, all the shelters can do is inform them.
Thank you for rescuing them. Have they found their owners.? 😢
