@douglaswright5689 just as well as the SC500 frame and suspension did. Works great on the street or on fairly smooth dirt. On real off road terrain, you have to be careful.
@Gregorio-d3q the DT360 had a 5 speed. SC500 has a wide ratio four speed. The 5 speed gearset can be installed in the 500 but I don't believe it would be reliable.
@@Gregorio-d3qA guy in town had an SC with lights that he put on the road. He seized it a few times because the tiny oil tank would run dry. Fun bike when it ran though.
@jeffreichl7924 it would be a poor choice for highway travel, especially across several states. Big bore, air cooled two strokes are not well suited for 70+ mph for hours at a time. If I geared it taller, which would be a challenge, it could run highway speeds all day. I would have to see if I can fit a 36t rear sprocket. All things considered though, I would not recommend it.
@GaryJonrd built an SC500 motor and bolted it in. 95mm bore, 70mm stroke. Took the opportunity while I was in there to fix the porting and make this thing run really well.
@captainaxle438 it's called engmod2t, it is a program that models flow based on port design, and was used to design the pipe. In this engine, the exhaust port is the limiting factor in terms of power production. If all else is optimized, it's got enough exhaust time•area for 52 hp. As I mentioned, I don't think it's making that. The airbox trades off top end for low/mid and I believe the transfer duct geometry could still be improved. Mid 40s would be my guess, as it compares favorably to a modern 250cc two stroke.
I want the bike , I emailed you ,and got a wrong address ,,I had to align up family to see who would go look at it . I told you call me collect , I had some questions ... You blew me off , why ! Don't bother answering ,its sold right...!
@peterbaranyai6057 that is all very strange. I have received no correspondence from you. I responded to your previous comment and never heard anything thereafter. Still have the bike.
New video is up if you want to see what it can do. See "1974 DT500 0-60 runs"
That pipe looks killer 🙌
@TurbineResearch hell yeah it does. Sounds awesome and makes excellent power too.
Had a 76 DT400 4 stroke. Absolutely raised cane all over k.c. and the train tracks
I had the same bike and color. I used it to rip up Ft Ord and the Salinas Valley!
@grayharker6271 if you can imagine your bike with about twice as much power and torque, that's what this one is.
NICE 😊
Damn, I was waiting how sounds.
New video is up with some 0-60 runs.
Will that frame and shocks handle that much power? Just askin?😮

Original 4 speed transmission? Mine had 5. Same model year and colour.

@@TurbodanNM Aah! Thanks for the clarification. Hadn't heard of the SC500. I thought you'd bored out a 360!

If I flew to New Mexico to buy this motorcycle do you think I could ride it back to North Carolina

@jeffreichl7924 as it sits now, with 17/44 sprockets, I would feel comfortable with cruising at 55-60 indefinitely.
Ride it.
@markjacobs3956 that video is coming soon. Soon as I can drag the wife out to shoot some proper video.
🇦🇺😎👍Nice 🏁
@@bigtrev761 thank you.
How you got it to 500cc

What, no sound?
@Not_Sure-2020 it makes a tremendous sound. Follow up video is coming soon...
Beautiful bike where do you live? What carburettor is on that monster?
@@chrostopheragius4516 Albuquerque NM. Carb is either a 38 or 39mm Keihin PWK. Can't remember which. It's big.
52hp? 😂
