An interesting but slightly rambling Charles Rosen lecture bought me to this piece. He’s rather sniffy about Dvorak but wondered why the Symphonic Variations aren’t more often played and appreciated . They are indeed very fine!
Do you have any of the following Dvorak pieces: V Priode; 3 modern Greek poems; question; cypresses; eclogues; silhouettes; Othello; Slavonic rhapsodies; Alfred; Biblical songs?

Dvorak didn't write much that I don't love. This is a great piece, previously unknown to me, but which I have to conduct in just a few weeks.
Thanks for letting us all know.

Bellissimo,intenso!
Remembers me quite the variations of Brahms, whom Dvorak was befriended with.
Little Beethoven Quartet at the end there, interesting piece

Many of those are on youtube. I would be surprised if the brief piano piece "question" is there. The piece is only 8 measure long!

Op. 78 is formidable which has been unknown to me.

Bars 5 to 7 resembles strongly romanian music.
