You don’t need a license in the U.K. to do a market stall. You need to declare your income in a yearly tax return and you will need public liability insurance too.

It is always nerve-wracking the first time, but I really like markets. It can be a bit soul-destroying at a really really quiet venues (I’ve done SO many of those!) but the key is remembering that’s part of the journey. Some markets will be really successful and some won’t. And that’s ok. You won’t know until you do them. I spent many years trying different market venues to see which were right for me. Now I know that some venues aren’t worth the pitch fee. But you only really know that when you’ve been yourself. Even recommendations or advice from other stallholders can be misleading, because a venue that didn’t work for their stock might be awesome for yours. I hope you have fun and I hope it’s a successful one for you! (Take snacks)

I’m starting my own jewellery making business soon and I’m hoping to be selling in either Sheffield market or Chesterfield market in the next few weeks so I really found your video very useful.
