Very interesting, I have a few games that were released in the 98 SE days, the only reason I keep my old PC running is to be able to play them. I've been hoping for a way to run them on a pi as I fear my PC won't survive much longer and buying a 'new' old PC just isn't an option for me. Please keep us updated with your testing
This is fascinating! I've just downloaded everything and lakka boots ok. It's late at night so I'll play tomorrow. I can't immediately find a game controller, but was pleased to see that I can navigate the lakka screen using arrow keys on the pi 400

That's pretty cool to run win98SE on the Pi. About the only thing I ever use windows for is to play railroad tycoon 2. I used to play the Loki version that ran on Linux but Linux has changed so radically since those days that it no longer works on modern linux. I've been using XP in virtualbox on my tower to play the game.
Great video as always, I just ran across the Intel UP 4000 series, looks cool, I would imagine it would run rings around this laptop and would make a great dosbox/emulator :)

Would be cool if someone got 64-bit win xp with internet working. The way you just add iso gives hope that it might be possible. XP runs on single core laptops with 1 GB of RAM after all... Emulating 64-bit OS might be too much to ask, but what's the point of 32-bit if it can't run your fav game...
Hi Lee, Excellent video - could Dosbox Pure (plus Win98) be installed on other Pi 32-bit operating systems e.g. RPi OS, Twister OS or is Lakka Retroarch necessary?

Could one run VirtualBox with Win98 (or WinXP) guest on the emulated Win98 host? Going round in circles I realise, but it would be good to be able to run Quicken 98 on a Pi by importing a whole functioning .VDI file avoiding getting any registration nags.

You shouldn’t need a boot disc for 98. Did you try to add the 2 new dosbox pure files to the cores folder? I’m not sure if it’s the same on the xbox version the folder location will be different to a Pi.
@@leepspvideo never mind I found a different download and then I was being stupid messing around with some settings but then manage to get to the boot menu thanks for this video though I am next going to try windows 7 on the raspberry pi using Qemu but if that fails then idk what I’m going to do

Actually, win98 was pretty stable. It was the bug fix for win95. It's WinME that was hideous.

No. DosBox versions don't support WinXP. That needs to be done via virtualization, meaning Rpi is currently not an option.

Try the hot key setup in the description you can assign different keys for different functions.

How compatible is DOSBOX Pure? Can I configure it for a slow machine such as a 486? Never heard this was a thing? Pi4 or 400 only?
See 6.40 options for 286 386 486 586 & more. I haven’t tried Pi 400 yet. I’m sure it will work fine.

Figured out that i used the newest version of Lakka, not Version 3.7 :-) in 3.7 there are all cores incuded🙂
Got it just tried it several times :-) New Issue @ Updating System Settings there comes a .DLL error..
I install this version of Lakka and put it in my Pi4 and it won't start up. Just hangs at the flower screen. 😕

I am running retroarch on retail xbox one. I have windows 98 se and boot disk. I cannot get the install operating system option to appear any help?

I can’t seem to get the windows 98 iso file to work and I try downloading iso files from loads of websites but nothing please help
