he's 100% right this was not just a great "super-hero" movie but one of the best movies of all time, ever. And Heath Ledger played one of the best villains if not THEE best in movie history.
Alfred (Batman and Robin) : I'll cancel the pizza sir! Alfred (The Dark Knight Trilogy) : Some men arent looking for anything logical like money...some men just want to watch the world burn...
Fucking hell, when you think about it...Michael Cane, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Heath Ledger and Christian Bale on the same movie, i mean, sky full of stars.
Good to see such an accomplish actor being very proud about a movie he is a part off. You can see that Caine is super happy his name is connected to this work. And rightly so. The Dark Knight is a masterpiece in movies.
Chris Nolan had a keen ear. He was really into having distinguishing voices in these movies. Everyone had an accent. It wasn't just that he had so many British and Australian actors playing American parts. He cast Caine with his very distinguishable voice. Even Anne Hathaway altered her way of speech to sound more like Hedy Lamarr. Then there's obviously Bane and Batman. Altogether, it really puts some sparks in the imagery of it all. Kudos.
I always have to step back and admire Michael for just how much he appreciates these movies, and just how much he appreciates a variety of cinema in general. It's easy to look at a "classical" actor like him and think he might he a rigid, old school kind of guy. But he clearly loves these stories, these characters, and the source material. To compare the Joker to Anthony Hopkins in Silence of the Lambs is high, high praise.
Still is sad to know that Heath Ledger died at that age in 2008, he deserved a chance to see artists and the overall audience witness his effect on movies and villains in general.
I remember when he said these things and I was like "how could it be better than batman begins?" and now i'm just awestruck. completely blew the generalizations about comic movies out of the water. one of the best movies ever made.
i love michael caine he adds that little bit of depth to the butler that the other batmans missed this one adds more. i thought this was very dark and real and you can tell all the people around wayne was seriously scared for him this film was amazing
I remember the hair-brushing gesture Caine was talking about and it did get a laugh in both the screenings I attended, mainly because The Joker's such an ugly wreck, and yet he's still trying to make himself look presentable in the presence if a lady.
I loved Michael Cain as Alfred ❤ He understood the psychology of not only Batman/Wayne but his enemies as well. He was his Father figure, mentor, caretaker as well as grounded Bruce when he was straying off his path completely.
Hes right these 3 movies from batman begins and the dark knight and the dark knight rises too were the best i have ever saw i really love it very much.
it’s true, the dark knight tells exactly not just at superficial level, but how society acts under certain pressures. it’s not just a hero and villain film it’s completely as deep with so much meaning as a film can get. it’s true, whilst you can add a superhero/supervillain dynamic but it tells a true story of society. corruption, terrorism, human responsibility. this is more than just a comic book adaptation, this film tells a lot and makes you question societies values and morals.
I love Michael Caine,He is an awesome actor! I have liked him for a long time, and I hope he does more acting in the future! :D And Thank you Michael for saying such nice things about Heath,I love you even more!
Sir Michael says that Christian Bale is the best Batman. I disagree because I have seen all the Batman movies, even the 1966 version with Adam West, and I have to say no one does Batman better than Michael Keaton.
LOL, "Batman and I are giving a party..." Goddamn, Caine is just spot on about what this film is. He could have done the whole promotion singlehandedly.
lol I remember Jaws: The Revenge, I remember it very well *shudders* I'm just glad it didn't destroy michael's career. Oh and by the way, there's a lot more to the dark knight than just explosions thank you very much. It's a film that examines the effects of chaos and anarchy on an urban society, amongst other things.
Keaton was good for a start, and actually better enough than all subsequents.. until Christian took the lead.. no comparison between the two renditions.. Keaton is.. umm, well.. too NYish?.. the best move they made was getting external talent to fortify the Gotham feel as did Bale
I agree, Keaton did great in the Bat suit, but I thought he was a shity Bruce Wayne lol. Christian Bale acts like a rich playboy. And does a better job over all.
Affleck is better than both Bale and Keaton IMO (aside from all the murder that is which if you think about it Bale's Batman killed on occasion as well and Keaton's Batman killed the Joker in his first film). Though I don't like the way they characterized his Batman in JL.
@martythetickler no it didn't Only Keaton was good, but Val and Clooney were terrible The Dark Knight are 10x better than any other batman movie and is one of the best action movies with incredible drama as well as a stong plot
Midnightz, agreed.. and imagine if they had allowed Affleck full creative control, and he's also is quite a capable director.. if such were the case then I think he would have equalled Bale if not topped him.. but instead the editors and crew looking for higher returns ruined it and in disgust he finally said F this.
@@midnightz9224 yeah Ben Affleck is more accurate. But the story of these movies is so good it really elevates Batman. Only thing that sucks about these movies is the fighting.

I actually like Jeremy Irons better than Caine as Alfred. Don't get me wrong, Caine was excellent but he wasn't really comic Alfred to me. Irons fit the bill much more closely there. As far as the Riddler goes Carrey portrayed him too Joker-like to me. I actually prefer Cory Michael Smith's portrayal of the Riddler in Gotham. He's basically a younger version of Wally Wingert's Riddler in terms of personality (even though Wingert hasn't portrayed him in live-action lol). Also Best Penguin - Robin Lord Taylor.
But having said that after seen the Joker film ( and how he actually became one) I valuated his psychology and most of the people on this planet would have become a villain under those HORRIBLE circumstances!!
I love Michael Caine, but doesn't he incorporate that "Casting" quote into every movie interview he does? Not criticising or anything; Michael Caine is still epic; plus he has a point.
The voice is noticable for little while and at the start of "Begins", then I didn't even notice it.. besides, even if a bit of a stretch, the rasp is indicative of full maturity, opposite that of a boy or even a younger enough man.. and at least it stays constant throughout, as it would in real life
So Batman and Spider-Man both lost there parents but Batman was around before Spider-Man so Spider-Man copied Batman. But then again what superhero had parents ?
I didn't like TDK because after all it was a Joker movie, not a Batman movie. Plus it was waaaaaaaaay too serious and pretentious considering it was a comic book movie and a huge part of the things happening on screen were practically impossible.
screw mane lol! I had no clue that I had Bell! My bad. I mean Bale. I just really disliked the way that he talked as Batman. His Bruce was great. The Batman voice just got really annoying. But I also am super used to hearing Kevin Conroy’s deep voice on B:TAS.
@@melancholiclonging8641 okay you got a point. His voice did get a little obnoxious at one point. That I will agree with you. But even with his voice being as raspy as a prostitute's shit rim shitting out a baby, he's still a badass batman.
