- I've been meaning to put together my Top 5 Parfums de Marly list for a while now and thought that presenting it from the PDM boutique in New York would be perfect! Joining mw for the video is Yvan Jacqueline who is the Managing Director of the brand. Mentioned are Herod, Carlisle, Percival, Kalan and Layton.

I only have Layton and Pegasus but they’re by far the best fragrances i have or ever had. Just way more unique than any designers but also really wearable still.
You can tell layton is one of his favorite just by seeing how he talks about it and i don’t blame him

When I smell Percival I imagine a extremely friendly french guy in a blue suit, basically this guy in the video 😂 confident but chilled and welcoming

Layton and Pegasus are my two favorite PDM parfum. They are so unique. Easily 10/10.
I liked the video. But your should've let the boss talk more. And let him finish his sentences. Dont cut him off every 2 sentences. Felt rude and uncomfortable to watch. Love the scents nevertheless

They are hyping themselves all over TH-cam working with every fragrance TH-cam. PDM is a marketing machine. They do have some good scents though, although Percival is just a dupe that normally cost 20 dollars.
Carlisle is my all time favorite scent. It’s such a warm sexy fragrance that lasts forever and is a major compliment getter

PERCIVAL: A fresh, slightly woody and citrusy effect.
KALAN: A citrus, peppery mostly woody fragrance. 50% similar to Beach Hut man.
CARLISLE: An earth, spicy, fruity and very oriental cologne.
I do t get much similarity between beach hut man and Kalan. Do you still get it?

For me Kalan is my number One, second Layton, third is Carlisle as of today
Everyone has different preferences that we need to respect, my preferred PDM that I own are:
1- Herod
2- Haltane
3- Carlisle
4- Layton
I think Herod is a champion fragrance. Tobacco Gold!
How does it perform?
I have Layton, Carlisle, and Pegasus by PDM. I love all three of them.
Same blind purchased the 3 just b4 Christmas as present 2 myself. Can't split them as 3 different smelling fragrances all number 1. 🤔🤷♂️👊
Herod is just the greatest scent ever made bar none imo. I like Carlisle and Layton but for my own taste Herod is just beyond anything else including Naxos, TFTV etc etc.
n°1 : Carlisle (dark, sensual, irresistible)
n°2 : Percival (king of fresh scents)
n°3 : Herod (classic combo blended to perfection and so so comfy/gentle)
Honorable mention : Pegasus, because I love white florals BUT it leans a bit more feminine to my nose and if I had to buy a PDM for my partner I would rather pick from the feminine line. Still a fabulous scent.
For the feminine line (as a bonus) :
n°1 : Athalia (summum of class and elegance, if you like iris. I do.)
n°2 : Meliora (perfect white florals summer fragrance, light and radiant)
n°3 : Safanad (sensual orange blossoms that you can't let go)
I also want to add that the feminine line's bottle design is absolutely stunning

@@klausen1604 I just received a decant. It is a very nice scent but I think I would only wear it to special events like Christmas or New Years eve dinner or a gala. It's a bit to heavy on the patchouli for me personally , without the patchouli for me it would be better.
Love PDM and agree with your top 5 apart from Kalan - I think its the worst one that PDM have created but that is just my opinion

Huge fan of PDM and the scents they create (or replicate). Currently own all the ones you spoke about and couldn’t agree more with your analysis. With saying that, Oajan would of been a spectacular addition to this list. Warm, sexy, bold, pleasing ... such a wonderful scent that goes very under the radar for some reason. I would highly recommend it and consider it a top 3 scent by PDM

Herod is > Kind 🤴🏼 and Carlisle a great crowd pleaser, PDM is a quality house & their sister company Initio Parfums do a superb sexy hedione & animalistic line with potency’ quite pricy though! 👍✅

Honestly I'm looking for something similar to the YSL (dates, intimate settings) but I don't know if Layton or Herod is better.... or even Carlisle?

Buy Layton and Herod if you can afford it. Layton for everyday use. Herod for date nights. If you can only get one get Layton for all occasions.

Since I haven't smelled Kalan, I can't say it's ranked too high on the list. I own Layton, Herod, and Carlisle, and I must say Layon is like the first love that gives me vivid emotions, and Herod is like a much more classy and opulent niche version of D&G The One EDP, and Carlisle is like the Greatest Hits of PDM. In other words, I love all of them passionately.

on which type of occasion do you wear carlisle?
@@GodSon10 Although Carlisle is easy to wear and mass appealing, it is the best for colder weather because it's a very dense and rich scent. But I'm sure you can pull it off in the evenings throughout the year by controlling the numbers of spray. And I think you can wear it both casually and for formal occasions.
UltraSupra do you think it could be worn during the day? and as a signature scent maybe?
Nice video. Afraid I don’t have the money to own several of these but I have treated myself to one MDM - I went for Layton original and am happy with my choice.

I insist Kalan is the best, and unique Haltane is my second best, they bothe kill Carlisle which I have as well, but Carlisle is not versatile, Carlisle is just for cold weather, and is too dark.
Carlisle is my number 1
Herod is my number 2
Carlisle = Batman
Layton = Superman
They really should check what they do. There are tons of reports that Layton is not Layton anymore. I bought the newest Batch. I have an old batch here as well. Its like two different fragrances. Sillage is toned down like 60%. Durability is 3-4 hours and only the first hour with okish sillage. The old ones were 10+. Smell of the new is way more sweet. The older one was damn strong and fresher. Same goes for Herod.
Maybe if more people complain, they will do something about it. I wrote them. They wrote back saying "its the same as always" and thats it. I paid 200 bucks so I want the bang for my buck.
The issue is that ppl dont WANT to believe that these "beastmode" "compliment getter" "powerhouse" fragrances have been watered down, and are weak, dull, paper thin scents now (after 2018).. ppl are emotionally invested in protecting the reputation of their favorite fragrance or fragrance house.
@MAGACOP yeah...and from what Im hearing 2020 batches are a little better, so maybe theyve fixed it (?)

Herod is amazing but they need to sort the performance.

I think what you mean is projection. It doesn't project that far away from you but it does last on me.

@@Kadaf1 I feel like it may depend on when you picked it up, because I've heard it called a beast by some but most like myself find it gentlemanly (aka projection isn't bad but not great). Which i don't mind that much because i love it so much.
Loving Kalan, so different from anything I've smelt! Own the extrait and parfum of BR540 and don't see the comparisons at all. Oh and it's an absolute beast!
Talking over people consistently is never a good look. Came off very disrespectful and honestly it was difficult to watch
Hoping to get a 4.2 oz bottle of carlisle next year .Just concentrating on holiday spending for the family until the end of the year. Herod,Godolphin,Oajan,and Layton are also on my list 👍

I have Percival and Layton and they are so good and compliment monsters. I do enjoy percival more but its because I prefer fresher scents.

I just went to Saks 5th Avenue. I tried all of them and my top 3 are;
Layton Exclusif
Pegasus Exclusif
Galloway
Herod is one of the best smelling fragrances I’ve put my nose to but unfortunately it just doesn’t last. 2-4 hours is what I get on my skin. Carlisle on the other hand...good god does that have good longevity
Carlisle is definitely a beast!
Emre Cay Your nose must be over-adaptive with Herod because 2 hours longevity seems implausible. It lasts 6-8 hours for me.
wildebest Luckily Herod is sold in the 125ml size so you can spray liberally all day. Smells damn good I might add.
Is not more than 3-4 hours and then becomes to a skin fragrance. They (almost every house) do the same to all the best sellers and is a shame and a very dishonor way to trate your customers.
Idky but I didn’t like Carlisle as much as I thought I would. Layton is my number one and most complimented fragrance. It’s just so easy and versatile

Bold and strong that last ? I just grabbed two bottles of Layton 2022 and Herod and they are skin scents after 30-45 mins
Thoroughly hydrated , neutragena unscented oil on skin prior to blasting 12-15 sprays and it’s a skin scent . Horrible smells great with my nose on my skin buried but that’s ridiculous to not get any wafts with 12-15 sprays . I have even reapplied after an hr with another 6-8 sprays and that’s ridiculous . 20-30 sprays of a 350$ frag is pathetic. My Layton Exclusif and Pegasus Exclusif is solid and performs but Layton and Herod is trash performance wise and no projection that’s worthy . They are skimping on the concentrates majorly . I emailed PDM and they do not even respond.

Stoked to get my first PDM in the mail soon - Percival. Starting with something I can turn into a signature easy reach scent

Herod smells like a woman scent. Way too sweet and I smelled similar scents so many times on girls. Unwearable as a man imo.
I’m a huge fan of PDM,I have 6 of them. Carlisle,Layton,Galloway,Byerley.Kalan,& Godolphin. I must say that Byerley is one of my favorites,it doesn’t get talked about enough. It’s REALLY GOOD!

I have 3 of these 5- Carlisle, Layton and Kalan. They are all pleasurable and all serve different purposes. I don’t particularly like the incense smell of Carlisle opening but after a couple of hours, this stuff screams pure luxury. Kalan is what I find myself longing for nowadays. Kalan is number 1 beast mode, the stuff is fun and uplighting with that earthy smell. It reminds me of happy moments of my childhood when I used to go out playing around it the woods in late spring with fresh alluring leaves and rolling around in fresh grass. Kalan is king of my PDM collection at the moment. I hope I am able to continue to enjoy the stuff for as long as possible before I get bored.
Carlisle opening soooo bad soooo bad🤮🤮
Big fan of PDM, blind purchased Carlisle, been growing on me, now definitely one of my fav. Planning to get more, however, in the middle of quarantine at the time of this msg, they opted for a $20 increase across all fragrance. Difficult to digest this one, still a fan of their fragrance and think better bang for the buck, but not a fan of this increase!
Is percival a blind buy? I dont live a place where they have it in stores, so havent got the chance to try it, but sounds lovely.
Percival is a fresh peppery (more versatile) version of the og A&F Fierce.

I got Oajan, Percival, Pegasus Exclusif, Sedley, Herod and Carlisle and i dont know if i could make a top 3/top 5 out of those.
It would be 1. Oajan, 2. Carlisle 3. Percival. 4. Herod 5. Pegasus Exclusif.

Parfums de Marly has reformulated a lot of their fragrances. They are not as good as the older formulations. The smell is not as good and the performance is inferior. Parfums de Marly HAS NOT been transparent when it comes to the reformulation of fragrances.
Here are some recent reformulations
Carlisle old alcohol concentration was 77% new is 81%
Oajan old alcohol concentration was 78% new is 82%
Herod old alcohol concentration was 78% new is 81%
Layton old alcohol concentration was 78% new is 82%
More alcohol and less perfume oils
Cool review, but I don’t think you ever actually say the name of Kalan. I had to go look at your notes on the video.. you just call it “it” “this one” etc. May I recommend you label the sections with the name of the fragrance? Kind of a frustrating viewing experience.
Going to buy Layton first and then Percival right after, for next winter I will get Herod and Carlisle for sure. Thanks Chris.

Cool, I have Herod, Pegasus, Layton, Layton Exclusif, Oajan, Carlisle and Galloway. Godolphin on the way - seems to be many different opinions on that one. How is Habdan? That, Godolphin and Hamdani are the two I'm most curious about.
FRAGRANCE FIEND I like ojan, habdan is pretty similar and imo slightly better
Alex T habdan is like a caramelized apple with spices
Hamdani I haven't tried but I know it's really challenging

For me it’s 5. Kalan, 4 Haltane, 3 Percival, 2 Carlisle and 1 Herod. Love every single out of my list.
Honorable mentions go to Layton. It could be in the top 5 but its a bit to medicinal in the beginning

I have Carlisle pegasus herod kalan sedley oujan percival layton these fragrances are amazing and long lasting the bottles are really cool love the brand I can't wait to get Haltane but it's always out of stock in Edinburgh
I just bought Layton, Layton Exclusif, and Carlisle, and have Oajan and Habdan on the way 🤩 Love this house because it brings quality and uniqueness while still impressing those around me and being a compliment getter. Also a lot of fragrances disappear quickly on my skin and these last and project. Need Kalan and at least one fresher one soon.
Kalan just smells too perfumey.

Regarding PdM I really love Herod. One of my top favourites in my collection of +-60 bottles.
It reminds me of my business trips to Salt Lake City, Utah to me for some reason.
It has been a while since covid I've been there but I guess one of the hotels must have smelled similar lol.

I do have to say I hate Kalan😅 can be a bad sample but It smells really bad to me.

Your video really needs lower thirds with the names of each fragrance for your closeup shot. Pretty obvious and easy to execute.
Get the discovery set, its great to roll thru the verious scents and figure out which you really prefer (and the wife/gf)

I manage a perfume shop. Huge PDM fan. Herod is my favourite mens PDM,. So good! PDM's boss seems like a good man. 👍👏
I would be more than happy to purchase a bottle, however would love it if they did a sample pack, so you know which one suits your skin.
