    nice tip heres one you might use to texture each individual piece easily
    1. download Cats Blender Plugin
    2. Import VRM using Cats Blender Plugin
    3.Next to Fix Model ( on CBP ) , theres a setting icon , uncheck combine materials in there then click FIX
    4.go to model options (CBP) click seperate by materials

      Thanks for the help, Dannan! I might make a video on how to set up the plugin with these instructions. Can I use these steps and credit you?

      Well, using cats in development, blender3.5 vroid1.21.
      I tried cats fix without combine and after that separate by materials, the emission didn't change...
      it is sad that i have to fix material one by one...

      @@CoisasdaLuisaHelena You can repeat the process with her clothes as well. You will need to work in edit mode to change the correct parts to match the colors/materials you want. Grant Abbit has a great video on how to have multiple materials for a single object: th-cam.com/video/OFmKedu8r88/w-d-xo.html
      Also, what do you mean by her face and clothes don't change with the light? Are you viewing in rendered mode? Please let me know if you need more help. Thanks!

    So, I found out that replacing the first Emission shader with the BSDF gets a better result, specially with some clipping meshes that were "deleted" in VRoid, otherwise, in my case, it was just left with holes in the most outer mesh of the clipping and well... we don't really want holes :V

  • @CoisasdaLuisaHelena

    another doubt: When I finish this process her clothes have some black parts that wasn't supposed to exist.
    I think it's because of the original material from vroid: I had to edit an dress and transform it into a coat.
    How do I take off the black parts and just let the texture I want? :(

    • @tusharkanwaria267
      @tusharkanwaria267 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@HomeSweetHome- yes I solved it finally. Go select the object in the blender from body and then cloth and then you can change the surface to principal psdf directly without using shading tab :)

    Sadly, even though you see the materials on the imported VRM character, the UVs are all screwed up when you look at the mesh in the UV Editing window. I use VRoid Studio primarily for Hair creation since Blender's Hair System sucks for the purposes of creating hair cards. When it comes to VRoid models in Blender, I import the VRM , and on the surface, the textures look intact, but when you examine that mesh in the UV Editing window, the UVs are all screwed!

      Thanks for sharing your knowledge and helping others dude! I haven't worked with VRoid models in some time and only worked on them for personal projects so wasn't aware of issues some folks might encounter especially with the UVs since I did flat shading. Thanks again for the contribution dude and have a wonderful day! 😊😊

      @@TheSamuraiWho Thanks for the kind words. If I might add one more bit of observation, I do believe that if you do a hairstyle completely from scratch in VRoid (starting with blank hair meshes and drawing the strands on), the UV's do sort out much, much better in Blender than if you use presets. I could be wrong, but that's just the way it seems to me.
      On another note, my big boggle is: If VRoid could figure out how to draw different hair shapes on a blank mesh, why couldn't the geniuses at Blender figure it out without having to rely on spiderwebs of Geometry Nodes? Imagine if Blender and VRoid partnered?

      What do you mean by "do it" exactly? What are some of the steps you took? Sometimes just a simple misclick or being in the wrong mode can mess things up. Basically, what we are manipulating here are the nodes that make up the materials of the character we have. Please let me know if I can be of futher help. Thanks!

    hey, if you don't mind can you please tell me what addon, version of blender, and version of vroid you're using? thanks

    • @TheSamuraiWho
      @TheSamuraiWho  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for asking, Anos. I'm not using any addon in particular (maybe node wrangler but it's not necessary). I imported the model using the method I outline here: th-cam.com/video/9YsZ4x5Zwyw/w-d-xo.html I was using Blender 2.93 with vroid v0.10.3 in this video, I think. The newer version has an export to vrm option in the top left if I'm not mistaken so the method outlined in the video should work.
      Let me know if you have futher questions. Thanks!

      I can reproduce the issue that you're running into Muney. It seems to be an issue with missing nodes, which can be seen when you attempt to export then open the console in Blender via Window > Toggle System Console.
      I have been able to get some of the textures in the final FBX file by adding an Principled BSDF shader between the Image Texture node (e.g. skin texture) and connect that to the Color and Alpha of the Principled BSDF which I then output to the Surface property of the Material Output.
      I'm not sure what is causing this issue unfortunately and this "fix" is very tedious. There are other tutorials you may find on importing Vroid models to Blender for FBX export. Hope this helps!
