The artefacts stored at Amarati gallary in British Museum are in a temperature controlled environment, with motion sensors so that nobody touches the stones willfully and the artefacts are in bulletproof glass room. Utmost care is being taken at the British Museum. It is believed that the stones were quarried from mines of Palnadu between 300-200 BC.

Thank you very much ramesh garu. You have been talking about cultural heritage or significance of amaravathi in the context of our culture. However it is unfortunate that no one is really worried about this aspect.

20-25 years back I visited a museum in the town/village of Amaravati by the banks of Krishna river. It was a small museum, but it had some amazing relics from the past. One of them was a beautiful relief of a cow/bull with a large dewlap. Not sure what that museum’s status is currently. But I do remember being hounded by the caretaker for trying to take a picture inside the museum. Comparing that with this experience makes me wonder if we know how to protect and share our heritage.

We make movies showing heros fighting British, but British has shaped the south Indian culture and heritage.
They protected our heritage, If they did not come we would have been another isthan country like pakistan.
They allowed freedom of thought and creativity.
