Totally depends on your hand and what extenders you run. You can also fake out the opponent by going through combos whose outputs are search targets which you've secretly already drawn.
This is the kind of content the average deck profiles are missing: actual discussion of synergies and setups. It doesn't matter how messy a deck is if it can be properly explained.
Thank you. I've been wanting to try my hand at the YugiTube because I've been similarly disappointed by the quality of too many deck profiles. Although you can tell from the audio that I wasn't expecting this to get more than 40 views!
I agree!! I have a sloppy Swordsoul/Branded/Chaos deck on Master Duel that can create crazy boards on either turn. Hop ear is becoming my favorite tuner. I use the effect of whatever level 8 I have, wait until they target it, then synchro into something more powerful to dodge effects 😂😂 I agree Golden Swordsoul is a fantastic card. Great extender, possible etude of branded on their turn.
Spright has a unifying trait of "level 2 monsters" across everything it plays. Lyrilusc Tri and Branded Tear combine just two archetypes. Not to say they aren't creative or skillful decks, but there's a reason why those hybrids were discovered quickly by many people, while Sapphire Surprise wasn't. In the early days of building this deck, my friend Terrence found Tri-Brigade combos which even pure Tri-Brigade players hadn't found yet. This goes back to what I was saying at the start of this video, about Branded Fusion and Verte: Verte wasn't being used because it was the best card, but rather because it was the most power for the least amount of effort/skill, and a higher power level would've required a disproportionately far higher amount of effort/skill to build and to pilot. Like, Verte is 90 points of power off of 2 brain cells, whereas High Spirits is 100 points of power but requires 20 brain cells. Most people are going to take the 90 and call it a reasonable day.
This is the exact kind of ygo content I've been looking for. Deep explanations of decks, with 15-page documents explaining what doesn't fit in the video. Honestly this is such a crazy deck and I'm amazed you looked at the crystal beasts and thought "what if I used these to summon almost everything from the Albaz lore," I'm envious of the creativity
Wow, someone actually found the guide! The idea started with my friend Terence wanting to add some Albaz Strike cards to CB Tri, while I was tinkering with a bunch of instant boss monsters. There was a brief moment when Tri-Brigade decks were summoning Mirrorjade through Verte, but when Verte was banned, everyone (else) assumed the hybrid was dead. My tournament vlogs tell the story of THAT moment in Yugioh history.
There’s so much going on. The dripped out clothes, the max cooked deck, the intense lines of combos, the absolute depth and creativity. Bro you more than earned my sub i’m definitely trying this deck out
I have one question: What are the ratios for someone playing Master Duel? Because I love this deck but without a proper decklist I am worried I miss something (great job btw with the guide).
how lucky am i to find this in my feed? i clicked expecting a deck tech, but this feels a lot more comprehensive than a lot of other similar ygo content i browse. also super hyped to see someone use nemeses other than corridor! absolutely hype list.
Thanks for the kind words. And yes, Nemeses are so much fun! I want to throw them into every possible deck. I love how they recycle each other while also recycling other cards/engines, summoning materials, and bringing their own floodgate boss.
i can imagine that the 3 beast types + dragons are great at managing eschatos already, must be devastating to throw down onto an established board post setup.

When you were partying, I studied the Sapphire Surprise. (Oh man, you thought DAYS would be enough to learn this deck? I'm still making new plays and I invented this thing like two years ago.)

Imagine my surprise when finding both a well done and interesting deck profile, but in the description i find a deck primer on the level of what I'm familiar with from cEDH! Masterfully done!
Wow. This is really incredible. So cool to see a deck that's this interesting, powerful, and unique. Loved the explanation of all the different combos and how to work with different types of hands.
I loved this so much! Your ideas and way to actually think and link two semi-separated archetypes through a completely OUT OF engine card and 1 bridge between other 3 archetypes is insane! You are extremally creative!
Damn the spice of this deck is phenominal. Its so original that i dont even dare to touch the deck. I have most things although some tri brigade/springans things are missing. Pretty good. Love it.
Can we get some time to appreciate not only this man's creativity but also how he explained how everything works in detail instead of just telling how to do a 1 card combo
Random recommendation, but this dude was a lot more fun to watch than expected. Also for some reason it's a lot easier for me to follow these explanations when the cards are physically moved around on screen compared to master duel guides. That was very surprising. Maybe I should try getting back into the TCG.
Im just getting back into Yu-Gi-Oh and have always wanted to be able to play my crystals at a decent level so was delighted to find this video. The deck seems like a cool blend of new stuff and my pet deck so I'm slowly trying to put it together. I really appreciated the emgine breakdowns and how they synergise (I've not seen such in depth explanations before for the newer ones).
Welcome back! Sapphire Surprise is too intense to recommend to new or returning players... but there are countless ways to play Crystal Beasts with the new support they've received.
I appreciate the video and your manual, they are very useful and pleasant, but for me, I love combining strategies like you just did, I hope to see more from you.
this is what I love about yugioh sometimes. Not just the gameplay aspect but the deck building aspect, its just genuinely fun to find interesting synergies between decks and actually making it work. Obviously its not going to be amazing in practical, but you can just tell you are having so much fun in this video explaining what the deck does and how it functions. Props you to
I've been playing branded for about a year now, and I'm always so excited to see new branded synergies, it makes me wonder what other kinds of fun branded synergies and combos could be made and discovered!
What I like most is: Ash and Droll are a minor inconvience at most. Veiler and Imperm can hurt but if you opened some of the other engines, it doesn't so much. Only D.D Crow, The Bystials, Ghost Belle and Lancea do anything but they aren't commonly main decked atm. Overall. Based/10.
This has been so fun to watch. CRYSTAL BEAST???? Like I didn't see how it would connect but you showed me the vision. I (as a masterduel only) will try to make this and go to master rank for my ranked climb
I’ve been looking for a new deck to play as I’ve grown bored of the ones I own and I think I’m gonna give this one a shot. I love the creativity and synergies you discovered with this deck!
Play this in master duel. I’d love to watch some clips with this deck. You definitely enticed the community with this post and ngl I enjoyed your explanation throughout the entire video. Looking forward to what you do next
You can see most of my deck throughout the video and my written guide has a section on ratios. More importantly, just throw in whatever engines/techs look cool to you and you'll figure out the best ratios for your play style as you learn how the cards interact. A good list won't really help you pilot a combo deck until you're familiar enough to decide it for yourself.
During the the fraktall + Tri combo you can also summon the merrymaker back as well to go into F0 with the raidraptor. Very niche and it costs probably to much extra deck space but it’s a nice interaction.
Good call! (So long as you have an extender so Apollousa still gets enough materials.) But I think the opportunity cost of F0 is too high considering it's either an Apollousa sidegrade or an addition to a board which already has ten disruptions.
The Crystal Beasts in the thumbnail got me to click thinking it'd be another Overdrive combo build, and I was totally not expecting the insane amount of synergies here 😂 it seems just crazy enough to work! I'll definitely have to put together a build of this myself and give it a try.
I have also invented a few Overdrive wombo combos... I came one tragic Nibiru away from making day 2 at YCS Philadelphia! Although after Golden Rule, most of those combos are obsolete.
The Golden Swordsoul is among my favorite tech cards in any deck I have ever made, people just do not think about it much. I am currently playing a lot of an Albaz pile deck trying to play as many different albaz archetypes at once without being entirely uncompetitive. It has a higher potential output than each of the individual strategies, but in return you can usually only do an archetype's combo once or twice due to the tight extra deck.
Everything about building and piloting big Abyss lore mashups is so open-ended that I tend to lose interest. Like, the deck is going to be weird and zany and fun no matter which themes I put in it, but truly optimizing it could take dozens of hours. This one already took too long to build.
@@MarkThePage i really enjoy the open-endedness of these abyss lore piles because they give me something else to work with every single time. Consistent combos just eventually get boring to me :/ So strangely I often enjoy worse decks much more than actually good ones
This is why decks like bystial runicks wins a YCS, because are not the original meta contenders, but have a lot of analysis, deep discussion about the engine and how it can be very consistent in a duel, i love it, and also because is around pegasus, one of my favourite cards of Yu-Gi-Oh ❤❤
This is a hilarious deck 😂 Used to play Tri, went to Branded Despia, Runick Bystial now, but always missed the tri-brigade... This is sweet and will definitely build and bring to locals soon 💪🏻
That's a neat little combo pile. I do think it a video like this would benefit a lot from the pros and cons of this deck/type of deck. Like for example this deck is going all in, it has next to no recovery you either stop them without you end board or you lose.
Which is kinda untrue if you think of any way to recycle a single of the mentioned albaz cards or get to another tri. I do think there is high potential for turn 3 setup
This strategy does burn through the entire extra deck in two turns, but in practice, few opponents will survive having that many boss monsters thrown at them.
500th SUB! Love the video, my first deck was crystal beast, and I'm glad to see sapphire being put to use. Also love the braindead fusion quip. Keep on bringing us these amazing decks! Also. - I know a better 2-card tri-brigade combo. FTK with ptolmeus turn skip into OTK using Nerval + lyrilusc turqoius warbler.
Thank you for the five hundo but I literally cannot keep on bringing you these amazing decks. I have already set the bar as high as it goes. There is nowhere left to go but downhill.
Here is the decklist i've been testing around so far: Monsters: Crystal Beast Sapphire Pegasus x3 Rainbow Dark Dragon Crystal Beast Rainbow Dragon Crystal Beast Cobalt Eagle (can be placed on field with Crystal Bond and bounced to hand with Sargas as an extra Card in Hand) Fallen Of Albaz x2 Albion The Shrouded Dragon The Golden Swordsoul Blazing Cartesia, The Virtuous x2 Guiding Quem, The Virtuous Incredible Ecclesia, The Virtuous Iris The Swordsoul (can be summoned from Deck with Ecclesia) Springans Kitt x3 Tri-Brigade Mercourier x2 Tri-Brigade Fraktall x3 Tri-Brigade Kerass x3 Tri-Brigade Kitt x2 Tri-Brigade Nervall x2 Dynatherium (the monster special summoned to your opponents side can be bounced back to your hand with Sargas) Noble Knight's Shield-Bearer (searches Dynatherium) D.D. Crow (can be searched by Shuraig) Spells: Rainbow Bridge x3 Crystal Bond x2 Awakening Of The Crystal Ultimates Rainbow Bridge Of The Heart Branded In Red Branded In High Spirits Branded Fusion (optional) Branded Regained (optional) Tally-Ho! Springans Fire Formation - Tenki x3 One For One Allure Of Darkness Traps: Tri-Brigade Revolt Extra Deck: Mirrorjade The Iceblade Dragon Albion The Branded Dragon Brigrand The Glory Dragon x2 Granguignol The Dusk Dragon Rindbrumm The Striking Dragon Springans Merrymaker Gigantic Champion Sargas Tri-Brigade Shuraig The Ominous Omen x2 Tri-Brigade Ferrijit The Barren Blossom Tri-Brigade Bearbrumm The Rampant Rampager Raidraptor - Force Strix Apollousa, Bow Of The Goddess Borreload Savage Dragon Other considerable cards: Crystal Miracle Ancient Warriors Oath - Double Dragon Lords Guardian Chimera
Cute use of dynatherium + Sargas; never considered that. Any reason for cobalt over the beast topaz? Curious to hear how you like allure; it was historically a key inspiration for the deck, being able to banish both RDD and mercourier, but now RDD typically wants to stay in hand until high spirits can use it.
"Any reason for cobalt over the beast topaz?" No, there isn't. I just started experimenting, but i change it because Topaz Tiger seems slightly better If Simorgh, Bird Of Sovereignty comes ever of the banlist, Cobalt will be better though. In terms of Allure i'm not sure if i keep the card in my deck. I need to make more test plays :)@@flipflipshift855
Omg Terrence read the guide so you can learn how to play Sapphire Surprise. 😘 Birds are now better High Spirits discards than beasts. Anyway, it's interesting to see how other people build this strategy. I haven't tried The Iris Swordsoul.
The last time I played Yugioh my friend had a monster that could directly attack my life points and I just got decked. I probably should've considered omitting some cards from my deck so that I could have an actual strategy like you instead of winging it. The anime prepared me for NOTHING
OMG John, I hope you didn't sit through this whole video. The monster on the mat is Rainbow Dragon Overdrive, whose ATK is so high it can deplete your life points in one hit even if you have a Blue-Eyes White Dragon protecting you.
Have you got a standard decklist available? i think that i would have an easier time wrapping my head around playing the deck if i had a point to start from
@@MarkThePage that STANKY JANKY. It's generally confusing messiness is a good thing. Thanks for this. Stank is that unique style Jank is the fact you used crystal beast since they're generally considered to be not very good mark.
This is pretty cool, the springgan engine is something I haven't considered but I might look into. Feels a little fragile though I'm not sure how well this will be playing into hand traps or an established board I'm seeing a number of choke points here and crucially a number of the starters such as the crystal beasts and some tribrigades etc cannot serve as extenders if you've already normalled. Some very interesting theory crafting though.
Here is a playable (I think) decklist to start off with that teaches you most combo lines. Please tweak after testing Main (51) -2x rainbow dark dragon -1x crystal beast rainbow dragon -1x albion the shrouded dragon -3x tri-brigade fraktall -1x the golden swordsoul -3x crystal beast sapphire pegasus -2x fallen of albaz -3x springans kitt -1x guiding quem the virtuous -1x incredible ecclesia the virtuous -1x blazing cartesia the virtuous -1x crystal beast cobalt eagle -1x noble knight's shield-bearer -2x tri-brigade mercourier -3x tri-brigade kerass -2x tri-brigade kitt -1x tri-brigade nervall -3x sauravis, the ancient and ascended -1x allure of darkness -3x crystal bond -3x rainbow bridge -1x tally-ho! springans -1x called by the grave -1x branded in high spirits -1x branded in red -1x rainbow bridge of the heart -3x fire formation tenki -3x infinite impermanence -1x tri-brigade revolt Extra (15) -1x guardian chimera -1x mirrorjade the iceblade dragon -1x brigrand the glory dragon -1x rindbrumm the striking dragon -1x albion the branded dragon -1x borreload savage dragon -1x gigantic champion sargas -1x springans merrymaker -1x raidraptor force strix -2x tri-brigade shuraig the ominous omen -1x apollousa bow of the goddess -1x tri-brigade bearbrumm the rampant rampager -1x tri-brigade ferrijit the barren blossom -1x ancient warriors oath: double dragon lords Not doing a side figure it out yourself Please don't use this decklist permanently, its probably very bad
Hey! Firstly, I want to say that I love the concept of this deck profile. Combining tri-brigades with normal branded stuff is something, as a normal branded player, I have been trying to figure out, and this guide is so incredibly helpful with that. Would you mind if (once I figure out my own version of this list) I posted a variant of it to TH-cam (with a link to your channel obviously)?
That they are! I don't think there is a single branded card that is too unplayable that no build should use it. I will have my personal take on the list up hopefully by friday@@MarkThePage
As a fellow crystal based player who has actually been testing for a few weeks with tri BEAST (what my buddies call the varrient of the deck) your amazing. Litterly 9.5/10. Only things i could say is card explanation on what it does even extremely basic. After coming back after a decade or so a lot of tyese videos are like "summon barrel dragon" but never says anything like "this is for negating X or popping something" and then swiftly moving on. A lot of vidoeos for me specifically anyway invole pausing and looking up cards, just to see roughly what they do then coming back. Maybe im just old n lazy i duno.... Merry Christmas im subbed
@@MarkThePage My combo brain loves to play way too many decks, but resolving poly and the Horse™️ in particular gives me that extra neuron activation so keep unholying those piles for us good player.
The guide linked in the video description has a section on ratios. What works best for you will ultimately come down to your play style and whichever engines/techs you decide to include.
Deck is fire! I’m trying to build it in MD any chance I could get your ratios or a deck list I’d like a more solid staring point before I get to crafting?? Edit: saw your previous reply to a comment and I agree to an extent but in MD especially I’d find it a bit easier to tweak a list based on my collection as to save cp instead of using UR/SR dust and cutting something later.
this is unhinged I love it lemme go pick up the tri stuff I was missing lmao edit: I get the point of not wanting to provide a decklist - but how many cards did you end up with? Fitting it all in 40 seems impossible, but 60 also reduces your good starters quite a bit
Siding in/out entire engines is another level of shenanigans which I wanted to get into, but I ran out of mental stamina. And extra deck space. So I'd just side the usual board breakers.
Can i have a deck list to test with because ill be much better doing test hands with the deck to see what cards i like what feels bad until i can get a more concreat list. I just find it hard to build a deck ive never played before especially a combo one.
cool deck profile and guide, but somehow you didn't provide an actual list in either. I'm guessing there's almost no room for non-engine? My kinda deck!
The lack of a provided deck list is intentional. The written guide has suggestions for engines, techs, and ratios--toss in whatever sounds fun. You'll figure out a streamlined list for your play style long before you've figured out how to navigate the main combos.

This is the kind of creativity that modern yugioh is missing. I love this.
Consistent combos just eventually get boring to me :/
So strangely I often enjoy worse decks much more than actually good ones
This is why decks like bystial runicks wins a YCS, because are not the original meta contenders, but have a lot of analysis, deep discussion about the engine and how it can be very consistent in a duel, i love it, and also because is around pegasus, one of my favourite cards of Yu-Gi-Oh ❤❤
this shit slaps good start to the new year
And I thought I was cooking with machine orcust superheavy lol
Love dis vid
@@MarkThePage If Sargas was banned, perhaps?
I'd be honored to get a card banned.
I love this deck, well put together video, I know you said no more yugioh, but I would love to see some duels with this deck against something else.
This was absolutely insane!
great, fun deck and very entertaining video!
This man is a proper cook
crazy creativity u earned a sub
Love the deck building theory keep it up so we can finally play robot bird in tri brigade

"Any reason for cobalt over the beast topaz?"
No, there isn't. I just started experimenting, but i change it because Topaz Tiger seems slightly better
If Simorgh, Bird Of Sovereignty comes ever of the banlist, Cobalt will be better though.
@@MarkThePage oh whoops forgot Rindbrumm is a card now lol
FINALLY
I needed a decklist to start off of bc i struggle to deckbuild without testing something first
This is wild, seems a little too bricky for me but the vision is still there, good shit!!
Just play so dramatically that the opponent forgets they have Imperm.
The last time I played Yugioh my friend had a monster that could directly attack my life points and I just got decked. I probably should've considered omitting some cards from my deck so that I could have an actual strategy like you instead of winging it. The anime prepared me for NOTHING
Nice play mat by the way!
OMG John, I hope you didn't sit through this whole video. The monster on the mat is Rainbow Dragon Overdrive, whose ATK is so high it can deplete your life points in one hit even if you have a Blue-Eyes White Dragon protecting you.
this is so awesome
Have you got a standard decklist available? i think that i would have an easier time wrapping my head around playing the deck if i had a point to start from
I love this. It's got that STANKY JANKY energy that drives other Duelists into a stroke 😂
that what
@@MarkThePage that STANKY JANKY. It's generally confusing messiness is a good thing. Thanks for this.
Stank is that unique style
Jank is the fact you used crystal beast since they're generally considered to be not very good mark.
Please tweak after testing

Not doing a side figure it out yourself
Please don't use this decklist permanently, its probably very bad
Also please tell me if im doing something obviously stupid, im not the best
Sure! It's interesting to see other people's takes. Branded cards are all so open-ended.
That they are! I don't think there is a single branded card that is too unplayable that no build should use it. I will have my personal take on the list up hopefully by friday@@MarkThePage
Dude! I love it!
Also please do a Collab with our boi neshy, I need this in my life.
*you're amazing
I didn't explain the well-known cards because someone who isn't already familiar with them probably isn't in the market for a deck this complicated.
@@MarkThePage solid reasoning but alienating if you continue down that thought process, just constructive criticism :)
The tism is strong in this deck, love it 💜
the what
@@MarkThePage the tism
ohhh why didn't you just say so
this deck looks so fun ngl, i kinda feel bad for netdecking becouse so much of your creativity and craftiness went into this
Add your own flavor to it! Get weird.
Sick concept dude! Glad I clicked! Got a deck profile uploaded anywhere?
I can't wait to build this in Master Duel and draw all of my 1-offs!
That's why you run 2, so then you can draw both.
I am in love with this video - also - BATTLE HANDTRAPS WILL NEVER NOT BE RELEVANT! #SpiritOfNeosSupremacy
And I am in love with Neos's clappin' cheeks. Honored that a Hero player thinks my own unholy combo pile is worthy of consideration.
@@MarkThePage My combo brain loves to play way too many decks, but resolving poly and the Horse™️ in particular gives me that extra neuron activation so keep unholying those piles for us good player.
Might try this in master duel...
Real proof that Pegasus is the best card and Crystal Beast is the best deck
Amazing video and deck, and I cant help but think you look a bit like Paul Ready
I don't see it, but I'll take it.
This is gold
no its sapphire
Can you provide the deck list that you would use if you were playing Master Duel? I’d love to try this out!
who let this man cook? this deck looking hella spicy/
This looks very fun but i would love a deck overview for ratios and stuff or is there any and im to blind?
The guide linked in the video description has a section on ratios. What works best for you will ultimately come down to your play style and whichever engines/techs you decide to include.
I like surprises, especially when other people are on the receiving end.
Sorry for the spam lol really interested in this, is your build closer to 40 or 60.
My decks are always somewhere between 45 and 52 cards depending on my mood that day.
This deck could use a chill PK engine ngl
PK goes over my head, but engine piles are engine piles, so you do you!
@@MarkThePageI was just memeing your deck is beautiful as it is
this is unhinged
I love it
lemme go pick up the tri stuff I was missing lmao
edit: I get the point of not wanting to provide a decklist - but how many cards did you end up with? Fitting it all in 40 seems impossible, but 60 also reduces your good starters quite a bit
My builds have been everywhere between 40 and 60. It's completely up to you.
What kind of going second engines have you considered? A small Shaddoll package could be good that Doesn't lock you to anything
Siding in/out entire engines is another level of shenanigans which I wanted to get into, but I ran out of mental stamina. And extra deck space. So I'd just side the usual board breakers.
any chance for a deck recipe just so get a hands on on it?
awesome!
i am in love 😮🙏
Form an orderly line, gentlemen.
Can i have a deck list to test with because ill be much better doing test hands with the deck to see what cards i like what feels bad until i can get a more concreat list. I just find it hard to build a deck ive never played before especially a combo one.
most wanted card 12:00 and 14:46
cool deck profile and guide, but somehow you didn't provide an actual list in either. I'm guessing there's almost no room for non-engine? My kinda deck!
where can i find deck list in one place. can you help me?
I'm gonna restart playing yugioh just to make this work.
