When I was like 7 my grandpa got me a bird book that has all the types of birds found in my state and their habits and migration patterns so you know the time of year to expect to see that bird and we always take it hiking and camping. For 20 years now my dad and I have been adding page tabs to the book when we see a new bird. Now my son and I do it together and he absolutely loves it. My dad also put small outdoor security cameras in a bird house and we watched a finch lay eggs and raise her babies. 12/10 recommend doing this with your little girl. She’ll have so much fun and you might be surprised just how much she learns and understands. My 3 year old recognizes random birds now and it’s so fun to see! I’ve always been able to find bird books at any outdoor stores like REI, Sportsman’s Warehouse, even Barnes and Nobles, or even state/national park gift shops 😂 One light bird watcher to another who’s lightly hyper fixated, do it the kids love it at the very least!

Jumping spiders are so cute. I had one that lived in my cabinet at another house and it would peep around the door at me and it got so big. It was one of the black fuzzy ones. 😊

I’ve never heard of keeping jumping spiders as pet but love the idea. They are so cute. My grandma loved plants and had a huge garden. When we were little she would tell us kids to be nice to her spiders because they were her pets. 🕷️💚

I plant my hoya cuttings in the dixi cups and then put the cups in a prop bin. Then when the hoya is ready you just pull the cup out and dont disturb anything

I use water for my Hoyas to prop in, usually little shot glasses so the leaves are out of the water for the most part to prop!

What cute pots for your new plant babies. I especially like the terracotta on with the not so deep reservoir, lol. Thank you for being such a sweet planty tuber. Your personality comes across as sweet and not too full of yourself. I have enjoyed watching you for quite some time now and getting some tips on how to be an authentic youtube plant person with something of quality to say. Love your plants and congrats on your new job I feel that your office will be beautiful. Bea

Love your plants and ideas for your office. Thanks for the info for dela tanks info. Love to watching the hummingbirds we have at my mom's house in Tucson. I make nectar for them every time I go. Now my grandbaby goes to watch the hummingbirds every time she visits my parents in Tucson.

My 12 year old has 7 jumping spiders. They all have their own enclosure. 1 we bought online and the rest she’s found outside. She feeds them pinhead crickets, mealworms, or fruit flies. They are so cute too!

Becca!! I love that you’re keeping spiders now! I have a few tarantulas. I got them before jumping spiders hit the scene. I feel like jumping spiders would be way more interesting, the tarantulas barely move. Ha. But they sure are pretty. Have fun!

I have a Hoya prop box with soil that has isopods and springtails and it’s great. I’ve never rotted one this way. But you can also just pop them in a soil cup if they aren’t used to high humidity

I know a lot of hoya heads that swear by propping in water, but here's the secret sauce- they put a pothos prop in the same vessel with the hoya props and it speeds up the rooting process. I have not ventured into propagating my hoyas yet, but this will be the first thing I try.

I have a set of tarantula cribs jumping spider enclosures. I tried to keep them for a while. I got some babies from someone local, they didn’t get very big unfortunately. I also have tried catching and keeping small ones I find outside. None have been very big tho, when I find big ones they are gone before I can capture them. But I love it, PetSmart has the fruit flies to buy. One day I hope to be able to buy a big one but, no one local here has any. I might try purchasing one online someday.

Something to note about spiders as pets: if you use topical flea and tick treatments for your dogs some of them can cause neurological issues for the spider! Just something to be mindful of!

I only propagate in water or pon. Never liked the look of a prop box. I see people use perlite or moss in the prop box though more than soil. Spiders creeps me out it really scares me. I like feeding birds outside whenever i have bread that has gone stale.

Just fyi bread is not good for birds or ducks or any fowls belly. It's kinda like glue and can get stuck in there 😢better to give seeds
