Hi Jeremy. There is a small mistake on 12:55. "When the SW3!!! G0/1 becomes a root port, it will send a TCN to the SW1". (For some would be confusing)

Oops, you're right! Thanks for pointing it out, I added the correction to the description

I was fortunate to have read this before I got to 12:50 - made it easy and didn't have to go thru the Kuebler-Ross 5 stages of grief 😆

Hello Jeremy I'm from Indonesia, I just want to say that you're the best networking teacher I ever follow, please keep teaching for us, please keep making video for ccna, ccnp, or even ccie, thanks a lot, love from Indonesia

Hey Jeremy, just wanted to let you know that I Passed my CCNA today, thanks to your CCNA playlist. This ENCOR playlist will be next. Again, thank you very much!

@@goranshekha OCG by Wendell Odom then along with Jeremy's playlist. I think it is more than enough.

Yeah I've found that the OCG and Jeremy's videos are a great combo. I also did Bombal's course which was good for getting started with CCNA as well, but that was a few years ago.@@carlb641

Thanks Jeremy, glad do see you still doing CCNP videos. Doing my own labs on Eve-ng. Whenever i get stuck i review your videos as your explanations are great!

When I started studying for Encor, I tried to search online for articles and documentation on STP topology changes. I came across an article from HUAWEI. Good luck trying to figure out what the author of the article is trying to convey... Thanks once again Jeremy for presenting these concepts with a clear and concise way

Thank you for the great explanation. @ 12:53 "when SW1 G0/1 becomes a Root port, it will send a TCN to SW1." I think you meant when SW3 G0/1 not SW1 G0/1?

Hello Jeremy, Thank you for this wonderful video. I guess I am missing something. Could you please explain why the root switch keeps sending TC BPDU for 15+20 (forward delay + max age) seconds.

Hi Jeremy, thank you so much for this session.
What happens if I connect from Fa0/1 to Fa0/2 on the same switch? How will the switch converge if it is a 1) Root bridge 2) Normal bridge???

Hi, I really like your content and find it very helpful and interesting - thank you for that. But Im struggling with the video comparing to official cert encor guide - STP topology changes in chapter 2. Some information differs comparing what you're showing. Im really confused tbh. Did you have a chance to read it? Eg. page 48, link failure between sw2 gi1/0/3 (DP) - sw3 gi1/0/2 (BLK) its written: Because SW3'S GI1/0/2 port is already in a blocking state, there is no impact to traffic between the two switches as they both transmit data through SW1. Both SW2 and SW3 will advertise a TCN toward the root switch. In your film I heard something that SW4 (in example 1, 8:55) wont send a TCN as the state is moving from the blocking to the disable state so doesnt trigger a TCN. Example 2 (9:58) looks similar to scenario 2 in cert guide. They claim that the total convergence time is 50 seconds as they are counting max age as well, what you claim its not related to this example. Im really confused If I misunderstood something or official cert is copy-pasting mistakes. Thanks

In example 2, does the blocked port really sends two TCNs, one when it becomes a root port and one when it is forwarding? Thank you.

I am new to the whole Cisco certificate thing. My boss asked me to get CCNP certified. Is there any study prep stuff like Kaplan/Princeton but for CCNP? I feel like I will forget the things I learn here and take notes on without doing some practice problems. I am looking for practice problems broken down by topics. Thanks!

Hello Jeremy, thank you for the videos. I have a question not related to the CCNP topic. I'd like to study network design, but real life example. I mean from zero, starting from how to correctly design network topology based on the the business needs and all the way up to best practice devices configuration for that particular case. I didn't find something like that on the Internet. I just want something from the real world. Would you able to recommend some books or videos courses? Or maybe you're planning to produce such course?
    Example:
    1. We received task from the business, that we need to open a new branch.
    2. Based on the requirements we're designing the network, drawing diagrams and etc.
    3. We're planning which device models we need, which licenses. For example, how many ports we need per switch and etc.
    4. We're preparing device configuration templates according to the best practices which fits best this network design.
    5. So on and so forth...
It would be really great if you make such video series.

Great question, Pyotr! Such skills are very important, but generally not taught in CCNA/CCNP courses (because they are outside of the scope of the exams).
Unfortunately, I have little formal study experience of the topic, so I can't recommend any particular resources. I learned most of what I know about practical network design from my job.
If I do make such a course, it will probably be in the context of an ENSLD course. Currently, I'm keeping busy with my CCNA book and ENCOR course, so if I do make such a course it will be some time in the future!

    • @pyotr.networking.geek1
      @pyotr.networking.geek1 ปีที่แล้ว

@@JeremysITLab Yes, such skills are not taught in CCNA/CCNP courses and even though Cisco certifications are really great, in some points they feel a little bit disconnected from the real world because they don't give you such skills as planning real network from the scratch. If you make such course in the feature it will be really great, I don't think there is something like this on the Internet, like planning network from the beginning to the end with design, topology, configuration etc. And your course could be really unique. You can find many CCNA, CCNP and even some CCIE courses on the Internet, but you'll not find something like what I asked about. For example, you can take real cases from your work (of course without company name, customers names, real IP addresses and other sensitive data) and make a series of the videos. From the very beginning, how you received request from the business with all requirements and till the point where you handed over the finished network to the customer. Your Cisco certification courses are the best among all such courses and I'm sure that you can make great courses about topic I asked about.

How does SW4's G0/1 Max Age timer expire when SW4 is constantly receiving BPDUs from SW2 in Example 3? Or did you mean that hypothetically that SW4 stopped receiving BPDUs from SW2, causing its Max Age timer to expire? hmm ~ thanks btw
