Thanks! It IS a very comfortable for long extended cruising, and one of main reasons we haven't upgrade to a larger boat.

I enjoyed the video and really like the vessel layout. It’s a true long distance cruiser.

Great and informative presentation on the P367.We have a 1981 367 and love her,she is hull #11.

Thanks! The P367s are awesome boats. Where do you sail yours?

@@NielsJensenSailingSVFreelance We are in Savannah Ga. have owned her for 2.5 yrs.Planning to cruise full time hopefully by the end of next year.

I think you'll find it's super well suited for cruising. The longest cruises we have taken with our P367 are 6-8 weeks, and it has proved to be an great "home" for us during that time. We were going to take Freelance from Lake Superior to Florida/Bahamas two years ago, but that horrible destructive hurricane in the northern Bahamas and COVID unfortunately put those plans on hold.

@@NielsJensenSailingSVFreelance Thks, the previous owner lived in FLA. and owned her for 26 yrs. They would go over to Bahamas for 6 weeks during the summer. They lived in Cleveland before moving to Fla.
We tried to educate ourselves about different boats while we were searching. When we stepped on board Inamorata,we knew she was the boat for us.
Nice to see someone put out such a great video on Pearson.

We had the same reaction, when we first got on Freelance (which had a different name then). We were proven right, and have now cruised it extensively for thirty (30) years. Thanks for the kind words about the video. I hope you'll take a look at the rest of them.

We cruise full-time on our 1976 Pearson 365 ketch s/v Norne Geast. It appears the layout is identical to your P36.
I believe these boats are the perfect coastal cruiser for a couple. I enjoyed your review.
    Safe travels.

Thanks! It's definitely been my experience that both are well suited for a cruising couple, and are extremely similar. (We have sailed with several 365 buddy-boats). The cutter even has some carry-over artifacts from the ketch, including the pad in the cockpit sole for the mizzen mast. The main difference between two versions is the updated underbody, with the cutter not being shoal draft.

Just found your channel. Watched a few this evening. My wife and I plan on vacationing on our little trailer sailer on the Great Lakes soon. Thanks for the great content on the lakes and your boat.

Thanks for your kind words. There are a lot of trailer sailers around, and I hope you have a great time with yours. One area you might consider exploring is the Apostles Islands.

Great Video! I have owned my 1982 P36 Cutter (Hull 41) for 18 years now. I am constantly on all sorts of sailboats, but I have yet to find a design that speaks to me like the Pearson does. She's definitely a part of me.

    • @NielsJensenSailingSVFreelance

Thanks! Like you, I have been on all sorts of sailboats, and I totally agree. Vicki and I bought Freelance in '91. We have since then seriously looked - with years in between - at three other sailboats (in the 40-ft range), and each time we decided we preferred to stick with what we have. It's just that kind of boat.
I know Pearson also made a P38 Cutter along the same design lines as the P36 Cutters, but I have never seen one. Are you familiar with that version? I'm curious about what the differences are.

I owned the last Pearson 36 Cutter made, a 1983 367 hull # 50. I lived aboard for about 5 years and sailed from New England, through the Caribbean, to South America and back up to Annapolis. A great boat.

Absolutely a great boat. It's a bit scary think about it, but we have now had ours for about 30 years, and have sailed it extensively on three of the Great Lakes. We were going to take it out to salt water about four years ago, but things unfortunately conspired against it, putting the plan on hold.

Thanks for my the tour. You have a well equipped boat.

    • @NielsJensenSailingSVFreelance

Thanks. We have had the boat for quite a while, and what we did was to select one major annual boat project (i.e. new roller furling, davits, windlass, solar panels, a particular new sail, etc.) according to our priority list.. That made it manageable, and resulted in a nicer and nicer boat each year, which in turn made it unnecessary for us to "move up" to another boat. (Of course, we also do quite a few minor tweaks each year)..

Love the great images and solid information. What is your estimate of average annual hours of maintenance per year? Maybe you could do another video on the engine as I believe you had some issues with that a few years ago.

    • @NielsJensenSailingSVFreelance
      @NielsJensenSailingSVFreelance  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Between commissioning, decomissioning, routine maintenance, and upgrade projects it's a bunch. Unfortunately, I don't track the hours, but if I did it would be measured in days.
