@@REZKIDFLYFISHING You realize it has more to do with your technique, don't you? Not only do you hooks down stream, you fight the fish with your hand above your chin half the time. Work on your technique and stop blaming others.
Good report on the Piedra RK. I fished it on April 19th and 21st. Was exactly like you reported. High pretty clear water and you had to work for fish. No hatches to speak of yet. Thanks for the video.
Echo wants all 4 pieces back to match the tip to the rest of the rod. Their warranty service is the best that I have ever dealt with. Much better than the other rod manufacturers that I have spent a fortune on. I broke a tip on a #6 and on my spey rod, both Echo and had replacements back in my hands in 6 days for each of them. I wish I could say the same about a couple of other manufactures....Yup I break a few because I fish a lot. It's usually my fault too.....
Someone please tell this person that Orvis Clearwater rods are all from China. Expensive Chinese noodle with a big Orvis brand price tag. Nice profits to be had this way, which is why G. Loomis (now Shimano owned) comes out of S.Korea. Bad workmen and anglers always blame their tools!
Have several Echo, including Echo II, they replaced my old Echo I with a new Echo II....No issue dropping fish, just get them in the net quicker... I've won several European Competitions using the Echo Shadow II, I can't fault it, looking at the Echo Shadow X now.. Losing a tip, finding a tip and losing the tip is just nuts... Send the rod back, and get replacement, simple!!!!!!
I don't buy the claim Echo "wouldn't accept a return". You can't say you didn't want to send the entire rod back in your video, then try to say they wouldn't accept it. That's nonsense. I lost a tip section on an Echo 3 and they not only replaced the tip, they replaced the butt section because my "cork looked dirty" (it was). Just as you said in the video, I had to return the entire rod - all 4 sections - but that only applies to some of their rods. And it only took ten days starting from the day I sent it until the day I got it back.
Hey I just found your channel I am getting a 4wt 10 foot clearwater for Christmas. I want to euro nymph with it but also use an indicator once and a while. But I am worried that it won't work as well as the 3 at 10 for euro. What have your thoughts been on the 4wt 10 foot. Thanks any feed back would be great.
The echo echoed in then right back out again..what a strange line of events..bummer. what was it about the rod that might have contributed to dropping fish?
Nice channel. What ya gonna do? You find what is comfortable for you. Everybody gets frustrated and have bad days. But, this is YT. You say something they don’t like. People will be quick to tell you about how bad you are as a fisherman even though you catch some big fish that they would envy. Say something about their favorite products, they’ll lose all train of thought as though these companies really care for them individually and not their wallet. Some fisherman can have hair-triggered personalities. Keep on doing what you do my Native brother. A’ho!
Congratulations in catching so many trout, but I couldn't help but notice that you don't wet your hand before handling the trout. I've been encouraged to wet my hand before handling the trout so that the trout do not lose the slime on their body that protects them. What percentage of the fish you catch could conceivably die by your handling?
I have yet to try that rod. My main rod I fish is an orvis 10ft 4wt clear water which is under 200 and I have no complaints. If you decide to go with the echo let me know how it fishes.
@@tanonmein2184 They are solid rods. I feel like casting with that rod I was more accurate than the clear-water. Only issue I had was it would break at mid-way point pretty easy. Both times I broke the rod it was just a fly stuck I was trying to get out. For me personally out of all the euro-style rods under 300 I've fished the orvis clear-water seemed to be the best.
Hi REZ, I have a Clearwater 9' 5 wt rod, but I think it's not sensitive enough for euro nymphing. Are you using the same as mine? Or you are using maybe 3 wt one? Thanks.
Clearwater 9’ 5wt is a KILLER all-purpose rod (my brother has one as his backup 5wt and it’s a beast) but it’s not gonna be ideal for tightline nymphing…you want a 10’ 3-5wt for that if it’s your main technique. I think there’s one of those in the Clearwater series.
Your videos are some of the best fishing videos I have seen, i especially appreciate your videos in the white mountains. If you had to recommended a lake or steam in the white mountains for fly fishing what would be you your suggestion? planning a trip up there soon.
After fishing my Echo Shadow 10 1/2' 3wt for a few months and hating it, I stripped the guides off, put on high-frame spinning rod guides, changed the handle and now it's a dandy little center pin rod (matched with a 4 3/8" John Milner Kingfisher reel). Works great for the stockies in my local streams.
So you make it sound like the rod was bad but it is really because lost the tip TWICE. Don't blame the tool for your inability to take care of it. COME ON OWN UP TO THE TRUTH.
Orvis is overpriced trash. Everything I've ever bought from them - from boots to a line winder - has been absolute garbage. I bought an Echo 5-wt for under $200 to use because the tip on my Thomas & Thomas broke. That Echo fished every bit as good as the T&T. The T&T has a lifetime warranty but I may keep using the Echo even after I get the T&T back.
Get off his ass dudes . Kid , I think its probably a confidence issue now so keep on trucking and lets fish together sometime . I'll buy the donuts . lol
Hi, nice videos. Have watched many of your videos. How do you nymph the water depth that accurately? Do you always measure the water depth or just eye measure or try and error? My local creek is no more knee deep and maybe only a car width wide, so I am kinda novice in nymphing in high water and have hard time nymphing in fast and high water. Thanks.
Greg Sheu I usually just estimate the depth depending on how deep the water is and the current speed. If im not catching ill usually change tippet length before I change flies to try and find correct depth.
What you're saying about Echo requiring all four pieces for a warranty return for a lost tip isn't correct. They have tips available for most of their rods for $17.50 each. Check it out on their website: pros.rajeffsports.com/collections/parts-misc/products/echo-spare-rod-tips A friend had a broken tip on his Sage and it cost a lot more than $17.50 to get that rod back in action.
To avoid vulture-like behavior of anglers searching through Facebook, Instagram, and TH-cam to find fishing holes. Some of us do our own leg work to find the best spots on a given river. If we gave up even the state, the river might be an easy find, and with all of the footage, the spots would be easy to find. I've had too many bad experiences with people blowing up a small 1 mile section of a wild trout stream after catching and posting a 26.5" wild brown. I didn't even post the state, town, or river, and within a week dozens of anglers who are not regulars on the river were putting pressure on the exact hole I caught my monster.

Kinda hard to blame Echo's rod for why you weren't landing fish. They make great value rods.

I just ordered a new tip section. Was $40 before shipping. Not too bad.

Thanks for all the info been using tight line method for 2yearz it's awesome and I'm learning from you thanks amigo!
you can now order replacement tip sections for alot of there rods online without having to send the rod back..great thing for sure
when you hook up, you need to strip line in more and lift the rod straight up your fighting the natural bend of the rod making it harder on yourself

Here’s the answer, get a 5wt 9ft or 10ft and do it all. And nymphing with indicators is a glorified version of spin fishing.
The warranty isn’t for losing the rod…
