People have made hotel reservations for the last weekend in the month and are now out of luck. This video literally states that it was going to be the Saturday before the 4th / last weekend in June, and it's only 3 months old. It's very disappointing and frustrating. My family and friends have been going for years and look forward to it every year. I would like to know when this decision was made and why it wasn't properly advertised to the community. Obviously, it's too late to worry about it now, i just hope next year there will be better communication when you want to change something that has been the norm for years. I am just sorry that i won't be able to attend this year due to this, and I'm sure a lot of people will be the same way. I hope you still have a good turnout, though. Yes, we understand your frustration. This is a community event and we are a part of it but all decisions are made through the Homosassa Fireworks Festival which is a separate entity and nonprofit for the community. All of the marketing material, print and digital, had the June 22nd date on it. I will certainly pass this information along to them and apologize that this has caused an inconvenience to you and your family. Also, thank you for your comment on our Bloody Mary mix and for supporting this community event over the years, as it directly impacts local charities.

This was a choice made by the Homosassa Fireworks Committee due to scallop season starting early this year.
