You are using the exact set up I want to use. I use logic, have both the mpk mini 2 and the novation launchpad but I dont know how to use both together. Can you please do a tutorial on how to use both midis together within logic for live loops.
Stupid question, but I can't seem to work out how to actually record the whole audio output start to finish, to put with a video like you did? I mean, how to keep recording the audio while you record the singe cells? Logic doesn't seem to have a feature for this, or am I missing something? There's the "Enable Performance Recording" button but that doesn't work while you're recording cells. Only afterwards. How to record the whole process? Oh I would be so so happy if you could answer, have been searching all over the internet🙊Thought I'd need to purchase another DAW or Mainstage, but seems like you were able to do what I'm aiming for with Logic 🙏🏼 Thank you so much!
I plugged the outputs 1&2 of my interface into a recorder to record the audio live while playing, screen record using QuickTime on Mac and then sync everything up when I’m editing 🥰❤️
You could assign a shortcut key on your laptop keyboard to "record into cell" and use that instead of the pads on the launchpad to trigger record start / stop
I haven't really tried much of Ableton in depth. I would hope to in future tho. Primarily, I like working in arrangement windows because it helps you complete a song verses stay stuck on loops for too long. Hope this helps!
Ive been debating Ableton or Logic, since I get educational pack which comes with more than logic but final cut pro and stuff too.. Cheaper than Ableton… I just play guitar and sing, and my partner wants to use a launchpad or APC40 seems to have more stuff on it to control the DAW, and some keys and, basically my band in the box two person live band. After writing the songs in the studio, go out and play live. Using scenes and clips pre made at home. Everyone says get Ableton, but Logic looks like it can do as good at everything we would use Ableton for.
I actually use BOTH daws! I mainly use Logic for my productions and I've started using Ableton to program my live performances. You can always download Ableton Live Lite (it's free) to start off with and if you become more interested then try the 90-day free trial of the Ableton Live Suite. Awesome! How did you manage to record your internal audio with any latency on your keyboard?? I’ve been trying to do something like this but when I try to record my internal audio it always gets awful latency.
total noob at production but i make music so I understand the terminology. just trying to understand. So you need both the keyboard and controller for production? What would be a good price for each. Ive seen around 300 for both together as a bundle?
If you already have a DAW of choice installed, you technically don’t need a controller since you could always drawn in notes (esp since you have a musical background). The equipment are just tools that makes the work flow easier. But if you’re looking for a controller the Akai MPK mini is a great place to start, and believe that it retails around $120. Its note lane select and recording functions using the launchpad and doing the instruments notes with the mpk3 basically.

yes, but you would need to be pretty quick clicking the mouse on the computer

Try increasing your buffer size when producing. Then decrease it if you’re doing vocals... I find that to help with latency
They really need to make a dedicated controller for logic now.
