- THE breakfast TV ratings battle has turned nasty, with Seven and Nine trading insults over Karl Stefanovic's alleged "drunken" post-Logies appearance on the Today show.
With Sunrise panicked by the much-improved performance of its Channel 9 rival, Today Tonight broadcast an "expose'' of the Today show co-host tonight.
Based on rumours Stefanovic had been taken off air for the past two days as "punishment'' for his appearance and morning-after mumblings on air on Monday, TT aired a package of a giggling Stefanovic.

Drunk, and still far more entertaining and fun than Today Tonight will ever be.
This is the Best Episode of today Ever! I actually feel strongly about this, as us Aussie Gen Y kids grew up with Agro and Anne-Marie (if you know, you know) and some of us grew up to be Doctors. So bearing all that in mind, why did we make thing outta this? (Karl i mean obviously).
I mean, come on s'if Karl'd put his Anchors chair on a pedestal.
Today/Tonight shoulda tried a bit more to come up with content.

This report was a cheap move by channel 7. It was clear that the guy on the street was influencing what the people had to say...
"He's also a 60 minutes correspondent and has hosted ACA"
I understand that channel 9 is their competition, but this report was uncalled for.

No one took it seriously except for Today Tonight, People found it cute and funny. Today Tonight don't realize Karl is a human and not a robot.
Have been a bit luke warm on Karl over the past couple of months, but his Wolverine impression about 2 weeks ago as he went to the break and now this have me one of his biggest fans. Great job, logies.

I watched the show around 7.00 -8.30 and I didn't see anything that would make me think he was drunk. I think they are blowing it out of proportion abit. He had a few chuckles and praised his co-host. Big deal.
This is why I don't own a Television anymore. If this is what's making it on prime time TV, then heaven help us. Good Lord.

I don't understand. Who was actually offended by Karl's performance, can we bring one to the witness box? Must we all act professional and stiff?
1. With out a doubt he drank a good amount at the after party.
2. Probably had like 2 hours gap between not drinking and getting ready to go on air.
3. He didn't say anything to stupid, he was just in a merry mood after feeling the effects of a few drinks before hand.
4. It made the show more interesting hence is you tube slot with people like you and me talking about it.... I say fill em with booze before every show and it could be a great show.

The whole modus operandi of Channel Seven's "Sunrise" (the competition to the Today show) is based on the hosts acting drunk ALL the time.
They would turn this into some big controversy wouldn't they...

The only reason I came here was that I started watching the Chaser after the APEC stunt and was curious why they seemed constitutionally against Today Tonight.
Watching this clip, I am now thinking "what's the point of this show".

He didn't say or do anything inappropriate, and his laughing was normal for his personality. Plus, they only showed the laughing parts. The Today Tonight people were dicks for even supporting these allegations against him.

You know what this says to me? It says that noone from TT or Channel 9 has been to a party in the last decade. What real Aussie hasn't rocked up to work after a long night out, especially if it's after the biggest night for your industry. Suck it up TT. PS. If I was the Nine Today Show EP, I would have have these two 'benched' (aka rested for a couple of days or three) and use back up presenters.
We have all been there, at work after a major evening on the bottle. Take my hat off for getting on TV, especially well pissed, Go Karl, Keeping Australian, nice and lax and letting it hang.
