I have described Jim McCarty to friends of mine as a guitar player's guitar player. He has never gotten the popular recognition I think he so richly deserves but that doesn't make him any less good. Rock on guys.
great. truly. devil blue dress blew the Beatles and the Stones off the charts. one of those rare, ageless, pioneering rock n roll Soul (probably accidentally) Punk titans.
I saw them in the 60's twice with the original band. And I can tell you this, no one ever rocked out like these guys. When you talk about energy ,urgency and pure rock music, you defined this band. Mitch took it to a level very few were ever able to achieve. And Mccarty and Johnny B were always on fire. Sock it to me baby.
Phenomenal! Mitch and the band are in top form. And the keyboard’s got that classic 60’s sound. Presented in glorious black & white. Wish I could have been there!
Just plain r&r, no big show, no semi nude dancers, nu running to and froo on stage, no lasers en mega screens. All that is really possible as we can see. Thanks for posting this one, we really need it.
I don’t understand why this doesn’t have more “likes.” This entire performance is phenomenal. Mitch sounds fabulous. He has always had one of the best voices in the business.

Most of those guys from the 60s just kind of go through the motions on stage now. Mitch is every bit as good as he was and maybe better. He's got the experience and even more control. The Wheels were always the most fun songs for me to play as a drummer. Thanks!
And NOT in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!!? This is an OUTRAGE !!! I NEVER Heard of Mitch and the Wheels giving a Less than Awesome Performance! All of Us Must Search for and Sign any Online Petition to Change this!! Sincerely , Ralph in CT
Rocked out to Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels at the Bunny Hop in Madison, Wisconsin, back in '66 or '67 when I was at the University of Wisconsin. My girl friend Sally and I loved to dance. The Bunny Hop was electric that night!
Absolutely!! And He is 66 Years Old Here!! Mitch must take Really Good Care of Himself. Also, Why isn't Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? Grace and Peace Ralph in CT.
I love these guys. This was the first album I ever got in the 6th grade. I had no idea what they were talking about then, but I loved it. He liked this girl. That's all I knew.
Back in the last century the city of Hamtramck Michigan which Detroit completely surounds was a Polish community, where both Mitch and I were born. Every Labor day weekend they close off the main street and have a Polish festival, even though the Polish population is down to about 10% now, it used to be over 90% and they still every year, do the Polish festival! Anyways, Every year back in the day, between the Polka band performing on stage, Mitch would get up there with his band and rock Hamtramck. Usually wearing a bowling shirt (it kind of a Polish joke, LOL) I moved out of Michigan in the mid '90s so I couldn't tell you if Mitch still does it.
His voice was much much better here than it was in the 80s, where it had become more hoarse and nasal. I'm guessing he probably had some good vocal coaching, started singing with a healthier technique and managed to regain his vocal power. Awesome!
This is good stuff! One of my favorite songs from the 60's. Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels in my top five favorite groups from the 60's. He still has power in his voice! Amazing! Just a great sound!!
Jimiplayscobo ... tizzall2eezy2getstukinnerutt. Some get out and go to the next town or county or state or country and diss-cover that there will always be new ways of doin it... but yeah Motown reached out from Detroit all the way over to the other side of the whirld and grabbed me when I was just 12 back in the 60's too... Mitch and the band sounding awe-rite hearh... uh huh...
As much as I love Bill Medley, the Righteous brothers, and his reason for writing this great song, Mitch Ryder has owned this since releasing it in 66..
I have described Jim McCarty to friends of mine as a guitar player's guitar player. He has never gotten the popular recognition I think he so richly deserves but that doesn't make him any less good. Rock on guys.
Still kicks out the jams all around Detown area. Cool dude too

This is exactly how it is supposed to be done. Props especially to the band.AND the sound man. Precision. Ten thumbs up.
I don’t understand why this doesn’t have more “likes.” This entire performance is phenomenal. Mitch sounds fabulous. He has always had one of the best voices in the business.

Rocked out to Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels at the Bunny Hop in Madison, Wisconsin, back in '66 or '67 when I was at the University of Wisconsin. My girl friend Sally and I loved to dance. The Bunny Hop was electric that night!
