  • On the 9th Sunday after Pentecost 2021, the Holy Church of Christ commemorates the miracle of Christ walking on the water. In this homily, Fr. Peter speaks about the relationship between fear and faith, how St. Peter's example informs us today, the covidism and totalitarianism that are on the rise, and calls us to trust the Lord, the great Pedagoge, first and foremost in everything we do. So much in this life comes down to our answer to the question: "Who do we trust?"

That was brilliant. Marvelous exegesis of the plight of the Apostles and Peter specifically and the parallels to our own situation, praise God! I am very humbled in this life often and it’s only through Christ that I can keep a smile on my face and persevere. Thank you, Father Heers! ☦️🙏🏻😊

Thank you Father Peter! God bless you!
Knowing this, and now go and take the sh.t is an even greater sin, isn't it?
I rather stick to the Man from Nazareth who has Words of eternal Life! Lord save me in my battles against the demonics!
Glory to God for all things!

"We must get the HIERARCHY STRAIGHT: what's first, what's the second, what's absurd, and when we do that we can discern the spirits we can see where it's coming from and we are not afraid, we are not afraid anymore we see Christ is in charge ..."

Wonderful teaching ,that is it like this for us also ,God allows are there accidents in material world ? I have two bad cycling accidents and am only now recovering over a year later you might say karmically some movement away from God eventually results in accumulated mistakes ,how else could God bring me back ,yes I pray for healing but this mysterious way ,the way of Faith is what Christ calls us to ,who am I,I am that I am ! Said God to moses.Yes when the ego self tajes over then we have delusion we have pride in our limited understanding and so forth ,Jesus replied Peter perhaps looked down seeing the waves and felt the wind and forgot his master and gave way to his natural inclinations and stopped believing ,pandemics no we should fear the materialistic corruption the endless ego mania, the accent on selfishness as if living in our small little world view is all and everything !

A strong voice in a time of darkness even among some orthodox clergy. I still am floored they canceled Abbot Tryphon on ancient faith. Being a business owner I suspect their donors didn’t find Fr Tryphon’s messages appealing and pressure was out on AFR . That just my humble assumption being experienced in business. I read Fr Andrews response to this and I found it distasteful and forgive my but quite narcissistic with hints of gaslighting his audience.

You said we should read the church fathers. What’s a good book of their writings?

    • @pah9730

The church fathers and their writings are like the stars in the sky, in the midst of the dark night. They are endless, with different degrees of brightness. Where to begin? Perhaps with the commentary on holy scripture. Go to Saint John Chrysostom and his commentaries. They are available online, many of them. Or go to the contemporary illumined ones like Saint John, such as Saint Justin Popovich, and his commentary on the epistles of the apostle and evangelist John. See his wonderful book, Orthodox Faith and Life in Christ, for example. Or read Saint Theophylact of Bulgaria and his commentaries on the Gospels. Or read Saint Nikolai of Zicha, and his many illuminating commentaries, such as those found in his Prologue from Ochrid. Or, for a more contemporary church father, read the writings of father Seraphim Rose. Or the lives of the contemporary saints, Saint Paisios of Mt Athos, Saint Porphyios, Saint Iakovos of Evia, Saint Joseph the Hesychast…,

@Silent Christian For a catechumen, it is necessary first for them to be initiated into the mind of Christ, to accept and embrace the faith, to be purified of the worldly ways and mindset. The Philokalia is not appropriate for those who are still at the beginning.
