That is truly a real lifehack for anyone who has had this problem. Once you get it out enough you can use a metal saw to slice a slot into it to use a flat head screwdriver to get it fully out.
A few days after I watched your video for the first time, I bought a second-hand table at a Habitat ReStore. I needed to disassemble the table in the parking lot, in order to get it into my vehicle, but one of the screws had a stripped-out head. I tried your trick using the finger tip of a neoprene glove between the drill bit and the screw. It worked like a charm! Thank you very much for sharing the idea. I'm put the piece of neoprene into my drill case, so that I will have it next time I need it.
that prob wouldn't work with a screw and washer in metal that was way overtightened and stripped. Prob have to cut a deep slot or try screw extractor bit.
Having a hard time with a stripped hex on my older soldering iron holding the tip, it's gotten loose over the years (poor contact now) but super rusty and became "welded" to the shaft. I'll try this method, remove and replace it with a conventional screw; hope that the old tread will stay true. I still have some spare tube rubber lying around here so.. thanks very mucho for the tip 👍
I simply bought some Japanese screw pliers! (these are like combi pliers with jaws that grip the perimeter of ruined screws & don't slip of)....but thanks for sharing, I enjoyed it :-)
3rd one I watched. I was wondering why no one was using a rubbery material to unscrew broken screws or bolts. Great video. 👍 [*EDIT*] Ohhhh... one more thing. Can you provide links or specific product names for the black and orange materials that you used so that we can know what and/or where we can purchase those materials too?
What are the materials you used (the orange and black one ).. i need to remove the locking nut of my guitar whose head is damaged...please reply. thanks
I think the black one is a tube from a bicycle tire and the orange one is a rubber gasket from some sort of jar :) Any durable piece of rubber should work i think
The main questions (it would be good to put the answers into the description) is what kind of rubber were you using and where did you get it from? The secondary question is why are pozidriv screws shit? The head *always* gets chewed up if you put too much torque on them. Unless you have shitty driver bits, then the driver gets chewed up. And if you're really unlucky, the screw *and* the driver chew each other up. And yes, I *was* using a pozidriv bit in a pozidriv screw whenever this has happened to me. I *hate* pozidriv.
It's literally LABELED "piece of rubber" as he SHOWS you two different colors of random rubber pieces he has. It's just orange rubber. He showed the grey piece to try to avoid people asking what the orange piece was lol.
Interesting, though I'm not convinced it will work on a truly stuck screw. I'll have to try it. What I need to point out though, is WHY that screw is stripped in the first place. Those are pozi-driv screws, and you're using a Philips bit. They're incompatible.
Good on a loose screw. .you've no chance on an old or new screw which is tight. Tip. . If the damaged screw is in a door hinge. . Then drill the head off the screw, remove the hinge, then use grips or mole grips to clamp screw shaft then remove. If it's in a piece of work that you don't want to damage, use a dremel to cut a slot then remove with flat screw driver.
Len Ngametua,me too at first, and then i use the really exackly size screwdriver,i succeded 25 %,for the remaining 75 %,i use a plier to turn anticlockwise the screw,BTW,sorry for my english,i am from malaysia...
Really helpful i was scared my pip boy would never be finished now i can finish it i used the screws they gave me and the screw driver but the just chipped the metal out of the screw
So I have a question. The screw is in one of my strap lock knobs on my guitar and I’m scared it’ll damage it. How do I take it out without damaging the guitar?

Very clever, chippie by trade, never seen it before👍
Wouldn't a drimal work better just cut a groove in it both ways or just one for a flat head.

Why don't try Jelbo screw extractor? two step to remove the damged screw. www.amazon.com/Extractor-Hardness-Stripped-Removers-Jelbo/dp/B06XT3S7CJ/
PunakiviAddikti except if the screw is deeply resesed dildo

you learn something new every day!
I am a carpenter i learned from you and good respect sir. 1000 like
Makes sense. You increase the friction with bits of rubber. I will try that next time I have this problem.
TheJtbmetaldesigns wow mr. knowledge

Thank you so much for telling me to grind it to use a flathead it took me so long to find this
It's a good thing this isn't that. This is showing a wood screw on wood. None of the shit you mentioned.

I will definitely remember this.
Maybe it won't work 100% of the time, but it looks like its worth a try.
what kind of rubber are you using?
I think it's cycle tube
I’ve got a screw rounded out on the master cylinder on my four wheeler I’ll use this to get it out thanks great ideas GOD BLESS.
I simply bought some Japanese screw pliers! (these are like combi pliers with jaws that grip the perimeter of ruined screws & don't slip of)....but thanks for sharing, I enjoyed it :-)
I suppose there might be times when a wood screw is countersunk such that screw pliers can't grab it.
Brilliant I'm about to replace old decking soon and I am bound to come across some dodgy screws. Cheers for the tip.
Simple and genius! Going to try it RIGHT now :)
use the right screwdriver bit to start with you are using a PH2 driver and bit with a PZ2 screw
acespark1
Had this problem many times over the years, can't wait to try next time I come across a shagged screw, cheers !
Holy moly If I knew this a long time ago I would have less grey hair AMAZING STUFF

@@srinathpadmanabhan did you fix it? I'm having the same problem
@@almi3391 took it to a service center and they removed it. I guess one of the screws was not even required to open the laptop
mind blown man, very simple and it works!! thank you!

Ended up with a piece of rubber full of holes 😁
Igor good idea, many people have this problem, and this is easy, economic solution ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡
Nice job, but will that work when tighten?
What if the screw, it really tight and screwed into iron
Good idea! Without any special tool. Thank you for sharing
What are the materials you used (the orange and black one ).. i need to remove the locking nut of my guitar whose head is damaged...please reply. thanks

It's literally LABELED "piece of rubber" as he SHOWS you two different colors of random rubber pieces he has. It's just orange rubber. He showed the grey piece to try to avoid people asking what the orange piece was lol.

Any one other ideas?
Does it work on metal?
Great idea!! Never thought of this one. Thanks Igor30!! :-)

why did you round the head off in the 1st place? because it's a pz2 screw and you're using a ph2 bit... wrong bit bruce
how could he demonstrate without the damaged screw
Why are you on here ? Genius!
Will it also work on bigger screws? Like quarter of an inch screw..
Mine just punch a hole in the rubber ☹️
What kind of rubber
nice , but will it work on screw in metal 😉
How about small screw?
Interesting, though I'm not convinced it will work on a truly stuck screw. I'll have to try it.

Good on a loose screw. .you've no chance on an old or new screw which is tight.
Tip. . If the damaged screw is in a door hinge. . Then drill the head off the screw, remove the hinge, then use grips or mole grips to clamp screw shaft then remove.

utile e geniale!!!!bravissimo!!!GRAZIE
Use a left hand drill bit. When you drill into, will grab screw and extract it self.
Super! I am going to try this idea! thanks
The real magic is the music at the end.
What is the fabric you are using please ?
