Last summer I was getting the 260+ Miles to the tank when touring. Yup mu fuel pump crapped the bed. I'm back to filling up every 180 miles. I wish they update did not change when the fuel light came on, but ohh well. Ride safe!
The farthest I go is very close or at 200 miles (always seems to be just at a 1/4 tank) and I usually have 80 to 90 miles left on the trip meter. You're a bigger guy than I am at 150lbs so 180 seems about right. Come to think about it, maybe that's why my MPGs are quite a bit higher than the average? My being a little light in the butt could be contributing to getting above the stated 46MPG H-D says the Pan Am is capable of. I wonder what H-D calculates the typical weight a Pan Am rider to be, and if that factored into their fuel economy calculations? Hmm... Now I have something to think about. Thank you for the comment to ponder on, and for watching!
Great gas mileage!!! What mode do you normally ride in? Most of the time I'm in the standard road mode. I'm only getting between 43-44 MPG - I must be riding it hard...😅
Custom with Sport throttle. I mostly set the cruise because everywhere is a trip. That is unless I'm on the back roads hooliganing a bit and testing if the speedometer is properly functioning. I remember reading from a lot of guys that they get better MPGs from Sport mode than Street, which I've experienced myself. Street mode knocks my MPGs down at 2-4 MPGs. I'm sure of it because I watch fuel economy like a hawk. I've since turned all my custom modes to Sport throttle settings. But...maybe you are throttling out more than I do? Thank you for watching!
I was just on the BMW motorcycle website. BMW recommends inspecting/replacing the fuel pump at 50 to 60,000 miles. They were using Bosch fuel pumps back in the late 90s on the GS 1100 and 1150s. Do not know about current models. However BMW warns against constant use of unbranded cheaper fuel. That being said the fuel pump on my 2022 PAS got noisey at around 19,000 miles and was replaced under warranty. Im on a 2024PAS and will see about this one. But I will not run my tank down Below quarter tank and see if it makes any difference. As for WOKE Its politico and all corporations have pretty much gone down that road. We as bikers must stay together . Do not allow the woke agenda to divide us is their goal. Amen
I'm wondering how many have had problems with fuel pumps on the new 23s and 24s? I know there are folks who've had multiple fuel pump replacements on 21s and 22s, but I haven't heard much about the last 2 years of Pan Ams. As far as the politics, I try not to get into it. Just hire the most competent person for the job. Of all the stuff which has recently come to light, I'm more worried about all the RevMax bikes being made overseas. Seriously, a BIG reason many bought a Pan Am was because it was made (or at least assembled) in America. Made overseas means besides having automatically adjusted hydraulic valves, why buy the Pan Am? Everything else the PA offers I can get on other bikes now. Really, I'd swear it's like someone is purposely demolishing the MoCo.
@Chase_N Agreed on that "destroying the company" I am dead set against having bikes for the US market by HD being made or assembled anywhere but the US in York, PA.
@@paulwojnar2291 H-D has said they're moving all RevMax bike production to Thailand. Oh, but it's only temporary😉 Most folks will look at it and think "Why not just buy from (insert other brand) since none of them are made here in the USA". I'm sure the savings of the bikes being made abroad for pennies on the dollar will be passed to the consumer too🙄
@Chase_N no way that it will only be temporary. If they do that then they should be boycotted until the talking heads on the board come to their senses or better yet fired.
I dont think fuel pump failure because of runing the gas to quarter tank cause mine went out and i hardly ever did that like only twice that the thing went into the red and low fuel light came on once in 125000miles. I think its a bad design on pump or something. I mean you have a 5.8 gal tank so you can ride some miles without refueling but wait never let the tank get below 3/8 or the fuel pump will be damaged!! lol These pan am pumps are going out no matter what you do some dont mine did maybe yours wont go out. I blamed mine going out on harleys ceo because of his woke agenda and dei hiring polices.
I think it's a myriad of reasons, but this was months ago. I'd made the video about the Pan Am fuel pump failure mystery shorty before this. Possible reasons include; fuel, tank shape, poor manufacturing, covid shutdown, etc. At this point, I'm knocking on wood mine will continue to function. I heard BMW had a similar issue with GS1250s at the time too, so I wonder if both are using the same Bosch unit? I see your point about hiring policies, they can really affect product outcomes. Just ask Boeing's astronauts who're stuck in space until at least February now. Whomever built the Starliner kind of sucks and likely weren't the right people for the job. Thank you for watching!
Excellent news Chase N'!!!
Regards, Lindsay
Yep, pretty pleased with it, and thank you for watching!

As of right now domestic Rev Max bikes are still being made here in the US.
