Dr Alithea Binnie (Tilda Swinton) is an academic - content with life and a creature of reason. While in Istanbul attending a conference, she happens to encounter a Djinn (Idris Elba) who offers her three wishes in exchange for his freedom. This presents two problems. First, she doubts that he is real and second, because she is a scholar of story and mythology, she knows all the cautionary tales of wishes gone wrong. The Djinn pleads his case by telling her fantastical stories of his past. Eventually she is beguiled and makes a wish that surprises them both.

Went to the screening. This movie was gorgeous. It’s made to watch in the theaters. The colors, the stories, the lessons I just can’t get over it. I love this movie so much

I watched it last night and will watch it again. It's deeper and more lush and thoughtful than some are ready for. It's quite good.

I thought it might be Goode from (the) trailer(s); but by the time I (practically) Floated Out of the theatre after first viewing - as far as Intellegent Calibre of which You Astutely and Correctly Speak - -- As I Left the Theatre after first viewing; my face was Beautifully Caved in by this Films Exquisite Intellectual (and in fact Philisophical) Wheel Tracks upon takeof - and landing..

Great story.I love it. Particularly the location: Istanbul. And the texts. And design all over. Some pictures remind me heavily of Amelie. Love that, too. And! It is so far away from our modern narcissistic world. Cannot even explain why I love it. And that is part of the magic.

I was shocked to see such untold truths, of the lives of women. The dialogue alone was meaningful and the actors made it magical!
