Shooting Crows with a Benelli Montefeltro in a Bale Hide! | Lots of Crows | Fast Shooting!

Well this was certainly a very miserable day on the weather front! Side ways rain and heavy winds but it didn't stop the crows.
We decided to set the hide around a stack of bales in the middle of the field which was luckily enough where the vast majority of the birds were congregating.
The crows were certainly testing our ability on this day, the wind was strong at our backs and the birds were slow, holding back off the pattern which gives them a lot of time to assess whether everything was ok..
I was having a go with a Benelli Montefeltro 12 gauge semi automatic which was fun and a bit different to what I'm used to shooting.

Always liked the Benelli autos, simple mechanism, very easy to clean, supremely reliable and fun to shoot, but the stock length is desperately short even with the longest pad. You were right to put the stock extension shoe on. Some great shots there too Rob. Thanks for posting 👍👍

Yep, miserable weather. You guys made the best of it though. When bales were smaller a hide built from them was always nice.

Good control of Corvids. Thanks. They are well known to reduce the food on the table. I’ve a pea field next to me. And there’s some spilled peas on headland. I asked a colleague to get them ,wash and freeze immediately. No. The Corvids got to them. And crapped all over. Effin disaster. 😢😊

Well shot Rob and your friend. Not easy with a completely new gun. Interested to hear you are writing for Sporting Gun. I wrote for Sporting Gun
back in 1981 !! Did an article on rabbit shooting and home loading, something I did a lot of in those days, when it was economic to do it.
Mike Barnes who started Sporting Gun and several other shooting mags, such as Shooting Gazette and Fieldsports, came to lunch with me.
About 28 years later at a Game fair at Blenheim, I met him again and he remembered my name, which I thought was impressive.

Morning Rob, Marcus from Holland again , nice video but very diffecult shooting for you on these veering away birds , a light weight auto is not making it easier for you, but that is another discussion I have seen you in a video of Coombe Farm Sporting in The Blaser Room , very nice wood on some of the guns, is that your bussiness or are just working there ?
