    I bought a Roscoe 9 last year and absolutely love it, I don't see any need to upgrade that one, I think it's perfection for any skill level rider. We are thinking about getting Roscoe 7 now for my girlfriend, that would be an upgrade from Marlin 4 for her. Looked at one at the Trek dealer yesterday and it's such a nice bike, 1x, thru axles, decent components, great frame and the list goes on and on. I personally think that Trek has hit the nail right on it's head with new Roscoe bikes (except the 6).

      Agreed totally. We bought Gigi a 6 initially and after a month or so of riding it we kids of regretted not getting 2 7s. We did buy her a Ripmo AF and gave jack6 the 6 but I think he'll end up with my 7 here before the end of the summer as I'll upgrade to full suspension

    What bike stand do you use and how do you store them in your garage? I have nothing to really attach the bike to in the garage and people can always take things

      We have the Feedback Sports Ultralight Repair stand - www.rei.com/product/749596/feedback-sports-ultralight-repair-stand
      It works great. For the garage we just bought a few cheap hanging racks that hang the bikes from the front wheel. No name brand that I see on them. Nothing fancy.

    Fantastic video! Funny how we have mutual feelings about our pro's and con's. I am 50/50 on the dropper lever! I feel exactly like you... it works... its consistent... but... I'm looking forward to switching it out with a pnw Loam lever. What are you thinking for upgrades? I picked up a XT Shifter but haven't installed it yet and a oneup 35mm Stem... Still deciding on what bars I wanna swap out to.

    I absolutely love my Trek Roscoe 7, and I don't see the issues with the brakes that some others have found. So far, I have zero complaints about the stock lock-on grips. I think the bike as a whole is amazing and I love the Deore group set it comes with... I never have to hear that annoying clicking "fight for that specific gear" that my old two derailleur system came with. The fork is plenty good especially in a Prairie Province such as mine. In fact this bike might be overkill in my area where the trails are quite tame by the overall standard. Unless you're a competitive trail rider or are in some hilly terrain, this bike is plenty good enough for what Mother Nature might send your way. I may however switch out the saddle. I am a fan of Fabric (the UK-based company, not the actual material), and it felt amazing on my former bike, a 2019 Cube Attention. Unfortunately it was stolen, thus getting the Trek Roscoe 7 this past Spring. Anyway, the point is I have found how my sit bones align to the form of that seat. So I may consider switching to that in the future. Again, keep up the great work in the videos!

    I just recently picked up a 2023 Roscoe 7, same colorway. I was curious if you have experienced any shoulder and neck pain while riding it? I love the bike but just need to figure out why I am having neck and shoulder pain.

    • @eightwheeladventures
      @eightwheeladventures  ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't experienced any of that except when I go over the bars. Haha. It's possible that you need a slightly shorter stem to bring the reach a little closer to you or handlebars that sweep a bit farther back.

    • @eightwheeladventures
      @eightwheeladventures  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was also just thinking maybe the handlebars are too wide? You can cut them down a little so they are a little more narrow. I've left mine stock at the moment. The ones on our son's Roscoe 6 are 20mm narrower and you can certainly feel the difference in reaching out to the ends of them.

    • @glengrigsby4858
      @glengrigsby4858 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@eightwheeladventures Yep, I have been considering a professional bike fit to see what would be ideal for me. I was thinking about all 3 options, shorter stem, higher rise on the bars and narrowing the bars a bit.

    • @eightwheeladventures
      @eightwheeladventures  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@glengrigsby4858 You can't go wrong with a proper bike fit. Gigi did one this past summer on her road bike and it made a HUGE difference. We didn't do them for the mountain bikes but I can imagine it would help just as much.

  • @brett_musgrove

    I'm looking to get my first mountain bike. I'm currently 22 and the last time I owned a bike was when I was in elementary school so you could say I'm a complete beginner. I originally was looking at the Roscoe 7 but talked myself down to the marlin 7. However after watching more videos I slowly talked myself back up to wanting the Roscoe 7. The thing is I'm not Sure what type of riding I'll get into so I'm not sure if the Roscoe 7 is overkill for me. I want a bike I can grow and build my skills with, without having to upgrade for a few years. I'm just not sure if I'll reach the limits of the marlin's capabilities and have to upgrade or if I should just bite the bullet and get the Roscoe?

    • @eightwheeladventures
      @eightwheeladventures  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Bite the bullet and go with the 7. We almost bought the Marlin and glad we went with Roscoe. The Roscoe is definitely something you can grow into and it'll take just about any you can throw at it. In fairly certain if I had bought a Marlin I would be really needing to upgrade already It's really a fantastic bike. I love riding it. -Chris

    • @MM-qv5lf
      @MM-qv5lf ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thru Axles front and back alone should be enough to make you get a Roscoe instead of Marlin. Beginner or not, I would stay away from any modern mountain bike that has Quick Release wheels.

    • @eightwheeladventures
      @eightwheeladventures  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I purchased a Marlin 7 last year and am seriously considering upgrading to a Roscoe 8 right now (especially with the reduced price). It is more expensive, but through axels, 29” wheels (I ride a small), wider tires, air fork and dropper post and larger gear range are all worthwhile upgrades.

    • @eightwheeladventures
      @eightwheeladventures  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agreed on all of that. It would be a pretty big upgrade for you. The 8 is a great bike for sure. Any reason you aren't looking at a FS in the same price range since you have a Marlin? There are a few deals out there for not much more than the cost of an 8.

  • @kwaktak
    @kwaktak 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I'm an old guy riding an older Marlin 7 but want something more trail oriented. I've ridden some trail on the Marlin and have added a dropper post but the fork and geometry are not the best; it's better as an XC platform. OTOH I have always enjoyed how reliable Deore drivetrains are. Would the Roscoe 7 be enough of an upgrade?

    • @eightwheeladventures
      @eightwheeladventures  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I would think so. We heavily debated buying Marlins when we were shopping last fall and settled on a Roscoe 6 and this Roscoe 7. And at this point the 7 is leaps and bounds ahead of the 6. If you're budget allows it then it would be a pretty nice upgrade over your Markin. It may not be a blow your mind type of upgrade over what you have in the Marlin but it's a nice incremental upgrade

    So i think you missed a few important things. 1 the new Roscoe 7 now has through axles at the rear. This is stronger, more accurate and offers better wheelsets and is a huge improvement over open dropouts. Last years bike did not offer this and is a huge difference. In fact the current Roscoe 6 is the old frame and i would warn buyers to stay away from it. Next, the dropper on the roscoe seems to be too short, offering 150mm (iirc) on the med, m/l and large. 150mm does not get the seat enough out of the way. Next brakes.. the resin pads only 2 piston brakes are horrendous for any actual descents other than pure xc riding. Your fingers will be claws, and your bike will not be stopping.. upgrading requires different rotors as well. All that said, the 22/23 Roscoe 7 is a good choice, and worth upgrading. More critical though, less fanboy and you will produce some good content, good production, well spoken and likeable otherwise.
