  • How do we respond to these intrusive thoughts that create so much disturbance within us about our salvation, our standing with God and our sense of peace? How can we respond in a fruitful way that will actually help me overcome?
Many get stuck in their obsessions because they compulsively argue, research, debate, ruminate, seek reassurance or perform some kind of ritual to feel better. Yet they find it actually makes these obsessions grow.
The nature of intrusive thoughts in OCD is they bring a lot of anxiety, guilt, shame and accusation to our character and our standing. Today I want to share with you three approaches that have dramatically helped my OCD healing journey.

Mark, in many MANY years of people with “training,” and the alphabet soup behind their names, there is absolutely no one who can honestly speak to these issues so intently and accurately without experiencing them. They can’t do it, you can. I thank you so much! A sister in Christ, struggling. 🙏✝️♥️

I’m sixty two, and had no clue I have OCD until I started watching Mark’s videos. It’s helped my anxiety because I realize I’m not the only one struggling. Thank you Mark!! I’m learning to start listening to the Holy Spirit instead of my fear! I would not be honest if I say I do this each time I get anxious, but it does take practice and connection to God- Who wants to help us !

Hi, Lola. I have been there before. Take a look at the TH-cam channel called theocast.
The Bible doesn’t say to ask Jesus into your heart, but to repent and believe.
Take a look at Romans 4. It’s not asking Jesus anything that saves us. It’s faith in His finished work-trusting that He did everything necessary for our salvation. And don’t fall into the trap of trusting in your trusting or checking to see if you’re trusting. Stop looking inward. Look outward to Jesus. I will pray for you.

@@brycewiley1615Bruce this is so helpful! Basically, looking outward can be best described as “Oh Jesus died 2,000 years ago for me” & moving on instead of “Do I believe Jesus died, Am I believing enough in that correctly, etc.?” We need to simplify it, like one would when looking back in the past to an event that happened in history already?

So much of my battle comes from my mom and how I grew up (emotional abuse and trauma). I am so afraid of hurting or doing the same to my infant daughter.
Recently, I heard someone say that their greatest strength is that they have become a woman that would have protected them. Tonight, I sat and watched my baby play, and I realized how much she looks like me. And I imagined myself scooping up my young self and giving that little baby a big, safe, protective hug.
By God's grace, I will raise my daughter in love and safety and joy. And maybe this will help heal "little me," too.
Mark, I dont know that you'll see this, but like so many others, I'm thankful for your ministry. Thank you so much. God bless you and your family.

I’ve been having lots of blasphemy thoughts against God. This is terrible I ask myself how can I be a Christian and have these thoughts. I don’t want the thoughts I HATE THEM! One minute I feel i like I got it under control and the next I’m back to spinning again asking myself all sorts of questions. This is no way for a person to live. It causes a lot of confusion as well. I have ocd and anxiety.

    • @jamescapb3795
      @jamescapb3795 ปีที่แล้ว +8

I have it too, your not alone. Gods faithfulness is beautiful. Perspective is so important. The thoughts are horrible though. I was upset yesterday and last night thinking about some of them. They hit me first thing in the morning and don’t ever seem to let up. It’s very uncomfortable. I don’t even really want to be around kids anymore because of them and at the moment I’m not sure how I can get over it. They can be convincing. God always comes through though. Lean on the promise that God will use this for our good and let us not lean on our own understanding. We have other brothers and sisters who are right there with us. Just think (and I want to try doing this too) whenever you are having a bad moment with these thoughts and exhaustion/ confusion/worry/ anger start really trying to dig into you, there are other brothers and sisters, who at that exact moment you are I’m sure, and moving through the same resistance too. It will be okay.

I was hoping they'd fade but instead they pop up in real life and that freaks me out back to OCD. It's a bizarre connection with the universe and idk how to navigate when the moment I try to be free from OCD the universe tries to harm me and trust me it's happened far too often for it to be a coincidence....scares me because I do not want any harm to come to me or anyone. I want everyone safe. Idk what to do.

Even if the issues I have don’t go away, I know in Heaven I will be made completely perfect in my mind. But Heaven is only achievable through believing in Jesus Christ✝️🩷

      1. People who aren't saved don't care if they are or aren't. One of Mark's most helpful points for me was to highlight that our OCD struggles usually "attack" the things that mean the most to us.
      2. Like 2 Timothy says, when we are faithless, He (Christ) remains faithful.
Praying for you guys and ask that you pray for me, too. I'm only just recently finding a name for something I've struggled with for so long: scrupulosity. And just in that on its own, God has given me so much comfort. My battle has a name. And their are other brothers and sisters fighting it with me. What a gracious and merciful God we serve who works truths like Genesis 50:20 in us...bringing about the saving of many lives.
God bless you all and your families! And God bless Mark and his.

I feel like God has commanded me or told me who I am going to marry, but I am not around that person hardly ever nor do I talk to them at this present time, and would like to pursue another girl. I feel guilty as if I’m disobeying God.
    OCD or God?

@@jeanneschwartz8663 Yes it does. OCD always affects subjects that are very important for you, for example being saved, being in peace with god, being free from sin etc.
I was going through the same and still do, starting with an obsession over me being chosen or not, then about the unpardonable sin, having thoughts that insult god or that I could be contaminated with evil. The subjects always change, but the problem behind all of that is an emotional wound, maybe a lack of love and safety in your life. I would encourage you to learn in all these struggles that gods love is there even if you have these kind of thoughts 🙂

Yes, OCD used to give me blasphemous thoughts almost constantly.
I’d go to church, and just like a constant loop on playback I’d hear “F-God” over and over in my mind. This caused me so much mental torment and distress, I’d panic so bad. The Bible says that he has not given us a spirit of fear, and these “blasphemous” thoughts create no less than manifested fear. The enemy wants to deceive you, to make you think these are somehow your thoughts, they’re not. God knows your heart, the fact that these thoughts would cause such concern (inner turmoil) is a good indication it’s not your heart, it runs contrary to who you are, and what you believe. The devil is the “accuser”, he wants us to believe we’ve somehow committed the unpardonable sin, that’s just it though… HE committed that unpardonable sin, NOT YOU, and NOT I. Don’t fall for his deception. His only tongue, his only language are made of lies and deceit. Those voices in our heads can get so extremely loud sometimes, because they demand our attention… however, YOU are in control of just what attention you care to give them of your time, and you can choose not to believe them, much in the same fashion you can choose to believe the wonderful things God says about you. Don’t be afraid of the “blasphemous” torturesome thoughts, just laugh them off and get along with your day, and eventually you will overcome them. I got over those fearful thoughts long ago (like 12+ years ago), because I realized it just wasn’t me. You can overcome them too, just don’t give them importance, know who you are in Christ. I still get those thoughts from time to time, and just laugh them off at this point, they no longer affect me because I know from where they originate, and it isn’t me. I love my God, but my enemy doesn’t love the God within me, and that’s why he wants to convince me that I too feel his disconnect, but that isn’t truth. Don’t beat yourself up, let those thoughts come, do NOT fight them, it will only make your feelings about them worse, ultimately making the thoughts about you having blasphemed God, worse.
Rest assured you have NOT blasphemed God, and that your salvation is secure.

@@sammy123960 I know what you are going through. Got the same problem for a longer time now. It is right what you have written. Unfortunately we take this thoughts, thinking that has to mean something and it is getting worst. In a text I have read was written, that the devil uses our flesh to get this thoughts because our flesh is still in the position to grab the thoughts. But - here is maybe a good but - BUT Jesus was never in the sinful nature, so the devil had no attachment point founded in Jesus in his temptation to plant these thoughts in the head of our Lord Jesus. He (Jesus) answerd with logic and scriptures in the power of the Holy Spirit, when He was in the desert. He has finished everything already for you and me!
When he had received the drink, Jesus said, ‘It is finished.’
