Welcome aboard train 1416, the 9:34 AM departure from Grand Central, bound for New Haven. Today's consist is an 8 car set of M8s.

Nice quiet ride, with plenty of propulsion sound captures. Also nice motor sound timing reference material between 10:00 and 30:00, as the train bounces between limited speed (45 mph), medium speed (30 mph), and restricted speed (15 mph) due to constant changes in the cab signalling between Harlem - 125th and Woodlawn.

1:30:34 just saw that AEM-7 at the Illinois Railway museum. Very nice to see it was one of the last to be retired. Crazy to imagine that it’s only been retired for 8 or so years and it’s already in a museum

Well since Metro North will expand into Penn station in 4 years from now which will be exciting. People can Metro north to Amtrak within 5 Stations like Penn Station, New Rochelle, Stamford, Bridgeport and New Haven. Well i also hope one day once Metro North expands into Penn Station i wonder someday will those M8 cars of New Haven Line can expand into New Jersey so that it can go within the tristate area and be within the Northeast Regional line and Acela Line with Amtrak.

Nice train ride to Connecticut, I always rides this line when I going to Bridgeport, CT. How fast does that train goes?

75 mph is the maximum speed for most of the line.

Around Bridgeport they go 30. Most of the line is 45 to 75 mph with a 80mph section between Mamaroneck and Larchmont. However trains don't always reach track speed as they are restricted due to the cab signal aspects. For example. Track speed by milford is 60mph, but most trains pass it at 45 due to the limited speed aspect
