    purchased this in 2004..Still in use today....Have recorded vocals, gotten recording agreements and placements using this Mic...B1 is a steal at the 100 dollar price mark..Built in pass filter or use your filters in your DAW to further enhance vocals...MC8 pro studio is my DAW of choice...MixCraft 8 Pro Studio and the B1..have been great friends of mine for sure....

    Not sure what's going on with your shock mount. I've had my B1 for about 10 years and the shockmount has never been an issue. Just tried to force the problem you explained and couldn't replicate.

    I still have and use this mic which I bought on 2003. It's already been 17 years and the shock mount still good. The one I have still have the old Ear in Triangle logo engraving, white box and black writing with no image or color at all.

    Behringer b-1 does sound like high end microphones vs at2020. For a person that uses
    Neumann and akg mic she holds up pretty well and it's heavier than the mic in its price range. The point is that all microphones got a boost
    B-1 seems to me more natural sounding. This is one microphone I will buy from Behringer sounds like a 900 dollar mic don't bash cause it a Behringer

    Take a look guys at "Behringer B-1 VS Neumann U87AI" from Paolo Balestri.
    Here, sorry, I see something like "pixel peeping" from photography world. From professional speaker point of view in that video it is minor difference, compared to 32x price

    I do not think the boost should be a problem cuz you can easily eq it out like bring down that harsh frequency.

    Hey i'm thinking of getting a budget home studio, and would need a mic for singing and guitar recording, around 50-100$. For audio interface i'm thinking the Focusrite solo (even though it might be a little overkill for what i'm doing) but the quality of it should be a A+. I have been taking a peek at this b-1, Audio-techinca's AT2020 and other similarly priced mics, but what would u recommend. Kind a darkish voice between baritone and tenor. Thanks!!!

    I actually got this a while back and disliked it on my voice but recently started using it on a guy that I wanted more air out of... It's the right mic for the right application. A little subtractive eq and voila... at this point I think my ears don't make up for my bad taste in mixing lol.

    • @AudioHotline
      @AudioHotline  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Recently I recorded a singer, very solid singer, but he sounded like shit on the NT1, Shure SM7b, AKG C214, then I plugged in the NT1a and it was like pure gold. With some EQ work you can definitely get a lot of mics to work for quite a few things, but it is nice to have a great starting point right off the bat. This mic is definitely treble boosted, and that can sound rough on some people. It is nice to have different mics for situations like that in the studio.

      They are very different. The B1 is a large diafragm and the AT2020 a small diafragm condenser to name just one difference. For voice, and just given that choice, go for the B1. In the same price range, get the sE X1A or the LDC version sE X1 S, which is a little bit more expensive.

      @@danielm.3403 Hey! Sorry, I am doing a giveaway right now and a bunch of comments have been rolling in, so I must have missed this! I was actually really surprised by how much I liked the Blue Ember, especially for streaming since it has more of a finished/polished sound. That mic is $99. The MXL 770 and MXL 990 also do a good job, they are in the $60-$75 price range. Røde is about to come out the with Podmic, I haven't personally tried one out yet, but I will be soon, that could be interesting, pending testing it out. The Podmic is $99. I also REALLY like the Audio Technica AT2010, I would highly recommend that as well, it is $99 but can be found for like $50 used. I wanted to give you a few options, so you can check them all out and see which one you like the sound of the most!

    hi! i want to use this mic for singing, but sometimes it sounds too loud and other times too low. The switch is always in the middle option and idk why i have trouble with the volume. I really have a hard time trying to record. Does anyone have an idea of why this happens?

    • @shadowmixx
      @shadowmixx 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Alice. I just read your comment. Your volume issue could be due to a few factors. One of which could be your recording set-up maybe (mixer or software, etc.). If you are still having trouble, you can send me an email and I may be able to help. Nice songs on your channel BTW. 😉 Peace

    Hi, I got a question. Im going to be using this mic for singing, specially metal music, which brings screaming to the table. Should I use the -10db notch for screaming? will it do good? my biggest concern is having to switch too much shit for when im singing and have to do something different for screaming. Thanks, great video!

    • @AudioHotline
      @AudioHotline  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      As much as I wish i could answer you definitively, It is kind of tough to say for sure... I don't know for sure how loud your screaming is versus your singing, and every vocalist is extremely different when it comes to that. I know that for my personal screaming, the -10dB pad wouldn't be enough vs my singing. I am a way louder screamer than singer. I would honestly just drop the interface preamp gain instead of using the pad and only use the bad if you absolutely need more head room.
      When I am recording my vocals, or other vocalists, I get the level I want, then I take out my phone and take pictures of level on the interface and label it with the vocal style. Then i can at least go back to those pictures and quickly set the gain properly when we go back to that vocal style. That's honestly the best solution I have found.
      I have used the B1 on some metal vocals though, and it definitely pushed through the mix really well.
      Sorry I couldn't give you a more official answer, there are just a lot of variables in that situation!

    I ordered a Audio Technica AT2020 condenser microphone, and also a blue icicle to convert it to usb. ‘‘Twas that a sin?

    • @AudioHotline
      @AudioHotline  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, not a sin. I prefer getting an XLR mic, compared to USB. Not because USB mics sound bad, like a lot of people claim, but just due to the fact that XLR mics can end up being a little more versatile when it comes to compatibility later on. So i think that was a good choice. I personally don’t have more than a single experience with the Blue Icicle, but the one time I have used it, It seemed effective. I think that could definitely be a viable set up for quite some time!
