The road runner game mode is quite underwhelming through, theres no danger or anything threatening you at all, couldnt they have done stuff like add multiple traps across the desert and have the coyote chase you with the rocket every now and then?

You're certainly right, the Road Runner gamemode could have been more challenging, but it's still pretty fun and enjoyable.
