Skills, creativity, positive attitude aside... love that he wears a helmet everytime he is on a board, even when he is the only one wearing it. Gives my kids and I great role model.
It is undeniably stupid to not wear one. I know, most guys think they wont look cool wearing one, but how cool will they look in a hospital gown while having part of their skull removed to make room for swelling of their brain?

Taking off the helmet wouldn't be enough to look cool. Would also need sunglasses, a boombox in one hand and a 40 in the other, and to dangle his back leg off every flip trick.

Andy is such a great ambassador for skateboarding right now. The versatility is really unparalleled. Sometimes maybe even to his detriment, depending on how unfiltered his expression is (the "I'm gonna do it just because I can" type tricks- like the ledge combos he does and the coping dance stall combos on transition for example). Even his freestyle combines a lot of different eras of skating but he looks really at home doing it. Andy should be every skater kid's mom's favorite skateboarder.
not only that he kinda does everything, but keeping the helmet on even on flatground is also a good rolemodel, even though i don't wear one myself usually. I got respect for that.
I literally mesmerized. Have been watching for this vid maybe dozen of times so far. Outstanding skill, and creativity - mostly old-school elements used to build up such a show. Very talented guy.

That half-flip! I call it a "flashbang," personally, and I love that trick so much. It's one of my favorite tricks to do and it's rad to see Andy work it into his routine. Congrats Andy!!!
Over here in New Zealand we call it a ta-dah, I think that name was givin to the trick because watching a skater set up for that trick you automatically assume they're about to do a kickflip then Ta-dah!!!! You assumed wrong 😂😂
It seems to be called 'anti' (anti-flip?) in the US. See Andy's qualification run and you can hear the commentator say it. Andy does it also in the Woodward Mano a Mano 2022 contest (miniramp battle).

@@neutrongarbage I think I first heard this called a 'cancel flip'. I am perhaps wrong, but thought anti flip was more of a late (under-)flip variation (and flipping all the way, the other way). edit: On second thought, maybe this is an anti flip also, as he cancels the kickflip with the front foot.
The first Manny trick with the nose rider to one foot back to nose with the twist around his foot to the nose spin thing! My lord this man is pure smooth!!!

I’m a fan of Andy but I have no idea how he won I thought 2nd-4th all had better routines, I’m sure those manuals aren’t easy but the other guys had a lot more cool freestyle tricks mixed in
His first and second run were damn near flawless and each run was unique, judges will always bump up scores based of variety and lack of mistakes.
I think this run added more to the language of Freestyle, a few tricks were rarely, if ever done at all, or he at least puts his own spin on it. Those manuals in his second run where keeps circling whilst maintaining perfect balance, thats something ive never seen in any other run. Also, both his runs where flawless, and both were different, so i guess thats why he won. He earned it fair and square imo
Idk Andy looked like he was surfing on concrete. The board control was insane.

@@netzerish yup. Also, the guy who placed 3rd had a trick that was never done before (i believe?), he wrote a few books on trick-tips in the 80's and 90's in Germany, he's an OG for sure.
Anyways, to see a kneeled reverse nose-manual was mind blowing to me!
