So, the Jaheira thing was actually NOT a bug. If you don't go to the harper meeting before going to lower city, she goes by herself into the ambush and dies. Normally, you can't get Minsc without Jaheira being alive, so he just assumes you killed her. Very unfortunate, but preventable if someone wants to go through this torture themselves
You actually solved a mystery for me. First playthrough I went to find Minsc, didn’t have Jaheira in camp as she’d randomly disappeared. I thought I could just knock him out regardless. He raged out saying I’d killed her, so I had to finish him. Then I got a journal entry saying she left because I killed him…
I missed the Harper meeting my first playthrough because I didn't hear her mention the store as we passed, and Jaheira never went by herself. We just ended up at the Guild which progressed her quest. I wonder if it was a change made in one of the patches or hotfixes.
Ngl, if you ended up splicing together two different playthroughs -- one with the mod and one where you pick up Minsc normally -- I would have 100% accepted that, because dear god that sudden fight to the death with Minsc and leaving a sad Boo in camp is absolutely devastating.
My thoughts exactly. Even just playing till that point and picking them up the normal way, would have worked for me and would have propably be faster than this whole experiment with Rats tbh
Here is a funny little trick, if you cast Warding Bond with Gale and leave him at camp, any time he takes shared damage, he will heal himself, so it's effectively infinite warding bond 😉
Challenge idea I've always wanted to see, beating BG3 before gale explodes. if gale is your companion and dies and isn't resurrected you have 3 DAYS before he game ends you - meaning with the mandatory long rests for act 2-3 (VOSS) (Ambush) its just barely possible. drawbacks are you will have 3 characters for the entire playthrough as gale is deceased on the beach
Kinda interesting doing something with the Gale timer but given that there was already the challenge to beat the game without long resting *at all*, feels like it'd be that challenge again just with one party member less.
@@Jebusthlordyeah itd be the exact same challenge. Cuz the game forces 2 long rests to progress through Acts So it'd be the no sleep run, but Gale's dead in the camp
I know its kinda too late but maybe when Minsc was hostile, you could have flee combat, then put Jaheira in your party, then knock-out + recruit Minsc the way the game intended at first. Anyway, I really enjoy your challenge runs, thanks for you dedication.
If I understood what happened correctly, Jaheira *did* actually die. The bug, possibly to do with the Minsc mod, was that she died. He laid their corpses together later. So he couldn't get Jaheira in his party. I'd also assume once the trigger for Minsc turning on you due to Jaheira's death is set, there is no flipping back the switch. Even cheating her back alive and him seeing her likely won't change anything about that.
The game freaked out because normally you can't recruit minsc until you get there, and go through some things requiring having Jaheria in the party. Likely what the game did was: He entered the area It registered Minsc was there. But also that he hadn't done the stuff to recruit Minsc If you don't do that stuff. Minsc is hostile, so he turns hostile. Then after that fight, the game goes 'if you have Jahera and kill minsc, she freaks out and leaves' But also he hadn't donevthe quest again,so she can't leave... but if he hasn't done the quest he shouldn't meet minsc. To rectify this paradox, it just killed jahera too
2:50 God this reminds me of doing the fight at Felogyr's Fireworks a few days ago on my current run and Avery's AI throughout the whole fight was so confused. It'd take him like upwards of 2-3 minutes to make a decision, a few times it seemed like he _intentionally_ cast Fireball on his allies instead of us, and at one point he ran out of the front door of the shop for a whole turn, only to spend the next turn trying to dash back upstairs. At least he didn't aggro the Flaming Fist patrol in the process but it was a pain to sit through every time his turn came up lmao
I kid you not, I watched him stand there for two minutes, then just gloriously one shot himself in a massive fireball + firework chain explosion, he literally just killed himself from full health, and no one else
Good to know I’m not the only one who bore witness to his _amazing_ combat AI LMAO like yeah tbf the shop is cramped unless you get everyone to the topmost floor; I had Astarion sneak up there and set off the smokepowder so p much everyone on the top floor minus the two people in the back room and himself were dead from the explosions. But even when the other shop staff went hostile the only guy taking his sweet time to do literally anything was Avery
Okay so we can all agree that his AI is bugged? Because I swore I messed up my game when this man just wouldn’t move for like 2min straight on every turn. Even worse I was doing that fight blind and livestreaming the game to my friend to convince her to play it with me, so we just sat in awkward silence while Avery just stood there and idled on his turn before finally moving and blowing half the shop up
Imagine this being an actuall DnD session: DM: You see a massive, undead Dragon in front fo you. What do you do? Player: I hit it in the face with a rat! DM: ..... what?
I believe that with Minsc as a Berserker Barbarian with the Ring of Flinging and Gloves of Uninhibited Kushigo equipped and Tavern Brawler as a feat, you're basically at your damage cap for throwing Boo at enemies. He doesn't have a tadpole so unfortunately he can't benefit from the Displace power, and as your video shows, lightning charges are unreliable. Still, the throw build in BG3 is insanely powerful, it's just better suited for throwing a returning weapon rather than a hamster xD
That forge boss fight reminded me that I only recently learned about the hammer mechanic. I just beat the boss in honor mode and got an achievement for not using the hammer. I got an achievement for being dumb.
imagine you're a powerful warrior, unholy creature, god, mage, or monster with many kills under your belt and the best attacks and defences available, only to get taken out by a hamster

Honor mode can already be beaten solo fairly easily by somebody that knows what they are doing, outside of a couple difficult early fights this would end up probably being rather easy overall, even more so if quests can be done with everybody before killing them. But even if everybody has to be killed on sight it'd probably only be difficult in act 1 and turn into a bit of a slog in act 3.
