    Greetings again. First off, how you describe both your life's journey and your fitness journey is similar to my own. I, too, had dreams and goals that got replaced by others over time. Being a hardgainer who also happened to have little work experience, I was lucky to even put on 15 to 20 pounds during the pandemic and find part-time work at a clinic. I didn't even see all of that coming while in my twenties. Of course, my journey won't end there. What awaits me, however, remains to be known.
    Second, congrats for meeting Jay Anthony Franke himself. Many Deus Ex fans would love to be in your shoes if they heard this. Now that the Deus Ex series is under new ownership, I'll keep my fingers crossed for future Deus Ex titles and perhaps JC's return. Wonder if Jay Anthony Franke will talk more about working on Deus Ex later on.
    Third, because you played Street Fighter and Deus Ex: Invisible War, you should know that voice actress Laura Bailey voiced female Alex Denton *AND* Chun-Li. She's done so since the late 2000's all the way to Street Fighter V, I'll add. Now imagine female Alex doing Spinning Bird Kicks after one leg augment upgrade too many.

    I've had a lot of things go wrong in my life the lately and it's felt fairly crushing at times and I know it's just a coincidence but the timing of this coming out today made me feel better so thank you

      I'm something of a fan of zen and stoic philosophy, especially for dealing with hard times. I recommend Einzelganger's channel if it's something you're interested in. He's very chill and easy to listen to.

    What a beautiful way to celebrate a milestone. Hella inspirational with the closing speech.
    Routine and monotony can make time fly by so quickly, whereby looking back over ones life only a blur remains.
    No matter the outcome, success or failure, pain or joy, the journey fills life with...life and it is always good to be reminded to get out of our comfort zone and do things, whilst we still have time.
    Looking forward to the Longest Journey vid. Keep it up, and thank you for your vids.

      Thank you for your kind words. I'm kinda overwhelmed if I'm being honest. I hope your own journey is full of wild adventures that'll just have you looking around you and wondering
      "How the fuck did I even get here?"

      Thanks, I wanted to do something a bit more than just say thanks for coming back and please keep coming back lol.
      I'm already capturing Dreamfall footage now. What really interests me is each entry occupies a different slot in evolution of the adventure game, going from classic point and click to something more like a Telltale game by chapters. So there's quite a bit to talk about there. Same with how every deus ex occupied a different console generation and inherited strengths and weaknesses from the era.

    brother thank you dearly.
    your philosophy and heart are as significant as any and all I have found in my 57 years....
    your words: writing, delivery and soul- are true- they are loving.
    I pray now to all devils and gods who might respond- I pray for your success, for it would indeed be ours all.
    I chanced upon this page and chose this essay first from your offerings- you deserve a G.D. award - I wish again for success.
    I will follow you with eager eyes, smiling heart...
    One hour ago I was finishing dinner.
    Now I finish this comment, and go to download this strange game you mention- this Longest Journey.
    I leave now to find it so I might return to your retrospective.
    Good night sir.

    I was watching console modding videos for years and decided to pick up a soldering iron just because the video cable I wanted used to cost £60 and making it myself would divide that price by 4... Turns out, I made an entire business out of it and a TH-cam channel. To this day, I think I have 300 subscribers, I honestly don't care. I have about ten guys that are still sending me emails to chat with me to this day, even though I shut down my company last October. My TH-cam follower count could fall as low as the sum of these guys, I wouldn't mind.
    All that to say: I do agree with you, do not focus on the number TH-cam displays. Same should be applied to everything. Measure your own success using your own metrics.
    Now I'm onto another journey: learning programming. I'd probably just say "just do the sh!t you want to do" but I guess your version is more eloquent =)

    • @arkham666
      @arkham666  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's so odd how we have this incredible capacity for learning and yet we see accomplished artists and craft people etc and say
      "I could never do that." That is until we actually try our hand at something and start working on getting better at it.
      That's quite the story you have there. Sorry to hear your business closed but it seems a new door has opened for you. I wonder where it will lead.

      @@arkham666 I wrote a paper that just got read to an entire school (literally yesterday!) about all that. It's aimed at young boys who feel left out. My paper aims at making them realise that every man around them is a master at something and that they should try stuff out. I'm using a recurring sentence throughout the paper that first makes me sound like a total loser and then shows them how it's a possible avenue for success. The sentence is: "I was just having fun, I what just doing what the hell I wanted".
      Men who haven't found their dream yet should just pursue something they love and try to master that thing (even if it looks like a hobby) and then, find a way monetize it. If it doesn't work, find a new hobby, rinse, repeat.
      One other important point that I wanted them to understand is that they'll seemingly see everyone succeed around them, get a cool career at 20, but they can actually achieve more than that, even multiple times, later.
      I've been a painter decorator, trader, modder and now programmer at 35. In between, I learned tons of stuff that led me nowhere professionally but that is knowledge I value. Like English, I had to learn that, I'm French.
      So the whole thing is like you said: You will become better at some things. Men are inherently attracted to things (women are attracted to people) so I felt it was important to tell them that schools, which are basically made for girls these day, shouldn't be seen as the end all be all. So they don't get discouraged at 20, start to go all MGTOW or blow stuff up ^-^
      My wife told me my paper made one of her colleagues cry =D Basically, it touched more teachers than kids, which isn't surprising. They're planning on reading the thing at the start of every year now!

    • @arkham666
      @arkham666  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SLRModShop that's a great story. As a teacher in public schools myself I consider inspiring students curiosity to be far more important than teaching the kids to pass a test. I think it's important for all kids to know they don't have to do the regular thing to get by in life.
