    I would squirt a little bit of water into the pot, throw some leaves from up high on a tree in there, and stir it around with my spoon. This would generally be enough to get all of the mess and food scraps off of the pot. Then I would dump the water far away from streams and away from camp. If pasta became burnt on, then I would have to stop at a stream somewhere and use sand. I'd scrub the sand and some water around the pot and this would loosen up the tough cooked on debris.

    The 'LID' demonstration and explanation is very good.
    OUTSTAND BRIEFING, overall.

    I use this pot, too, & do like it. Big for me, going solo, but its something you can get used to very easily. I bought this mainly for the size and its handles. Handles are good. Honestly, for me, the ideal is my BlueDiamonds Almond can. I use it more than anything else, even though it has limitations do to its smaller size, but it shines because it is smaller and way lighter. I think this 700 is my second favorite pot. It is a really nice item. The lid is different, but I've gotten used to it.

    I heard that they say they made the lid heavier (thicker titanium) so that it does not fly off (in the wind).

    There a lot of comments all over forums and youtube stating the the 700 lid is steel. I have contacted Snow Peak and they assure that their mugs and pots are constructed of all titanium, INCLUDING LIDS AND HANDLES.

      Why contact someone? Because people online say the lid is made out of aluminum or stainless steel which is non magnetic.

    It's worth noting that jetboil lid and coffee press fit that and the 600 perfectly. The lid is 5 dollars and weighs under 1 oz.

    Joe....One little lightweight upgrade Tip that solves your "lack of knob or handle " on the lid is to simply take a piece of muffler tape about 4 inches long, then fold in half and affix to the lid in an upside down "T" with the sticky side inwards in the middle, leaving approximately one inch on each side which is then applied to the top of the lid. This tape will give you enough to grip on to in order, to remove the lid ....it can be folded flat (to either side) for transport and storage. A bonus is that muffler tape is both cheap and heat resistant., so if it peels off eventually, you simply apply another piece of tape. So simple it is often overlooked.

    I use the same pot and fuel. One recommendation, store the fuel, with it's lid, upside down to prevent rust rings in the pot.

    Here"s a tip to reduce heating of the handles: remove the handles from the bracket and flip them from left to right turning them upside down. Do the same for the other side ( right to left) and reattach both..... Now the long end of the handles will be at the top of the cup and will be cooler during use.

    Tough choice. The MLD is lighter but lacks the handy measurement markings on the SP. The handles look to be a little smaller on the MLD too. I say you can't go wrong either way. Though I guess if you're trying to go as light as possible, the MLD is the top choice.

    I use the 600 ml version with a home made lid and alcohol stove. It is just big enough for one person. Snow Peak makes some great stuff.

    Does the 8 oz canister also fit in the Snow Peak 700?

    Had to watch this again but I don't know if you know it, that the lid is stainless steel. Very heay stuff. I'll often take another lid I made from a tin can. I drilled a hole in the center of the tin lid and epoxied a wooden thumb tack in it. The wood stays cool to the touch and the lid is much lighter. Great pot, huh?

    Stupid question, when you get food crumbs and cooking crud stuck on the inside walls of the pot, did you use dirt and sand to clean out the insides and then rinse? Just curious how you go about keeping it sanitary for months on end.

    Snow Peak's Trek 700 Ti pot is an excellent drinking mug, which is also big enough to cook minimalist meals in. It is all the freeze dried/instant coffee/cliff bars crowd needs in the High Sierras.

    There’s a gimmick to lift the lid using your spoon. It’s actually a brilliant design.

    I just picked one of these up. I spent my time looking around REI. This was the best option. I think it is worth the extra money for titanium to cut weight.

    Tinny from minibulldesign sells titanium lids with a wood knob that he makes himself. Works great with my snow peak 900. And only 10 bucks to boot.

    Was there any rubber or Silicon lining on these handles of The pot? Or did you rip it off ? To make it work better in a way.?

    but I can get 20% off the snowpeak today on backcountry, so it will be about $35 instead of the $50 for the mld

    How many inches high is this mug? Amazon says 4.2, but it looks much bigger.

      It's 4.2". I have the exact same one. I just think he has small hands or something.

    A 10cm Imusa mug weighs 2.5oz and costs about $3 at Walmart. Saves weight and money over a Snow peak.

    What kind of bag is your stove in? And how did you make it?

    • @BackcountryBanter
      @BackcountryBanter  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's a little tyvek bag that I made with carpet tape and scrap tyvek. I'm thinking I'll do a post on making one sometime. I did a video on making a tyvek wallet, and it's pretty similar to that process.

    Me mashed bag ripped... Not a good sack... Do u think that SP 600 will fit in the 700?

    • @BackcountryBanter
      @BackcountryBanter  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +baseballman74 Probably not. I can't say for sure, but I believe the 600 is almost as wide as the 700, just not quite as tall. Plus the handles make it extra thick.

      +Joe Brewer received an email from snowpeak. They said that sp600 can and does nest within the 700. I think I will buy me a 600 and use it conjunction to my sp700. Good luck to you Joe~
