From what the respected scientist is saying, it is apparent that Chandrayaan 2 was never a failure. It was a very big stepping stone for the next stage, which is Chandrayaan 3. It may not have achieved all its objectives, but for one it continues to function to this day, and second, it has added immensely to the planning stage of Chandrayaan 3. And it has also highlighted the mistakes in the mission, though there are no "mistakes" when you are journeying to the frontiers of scientific discovery. And as Mr. S. Somnath so beautifully explained, the work it did, and continues to do, will immensely help the Chandrayaan 3 mission. Isn't that how the frontiers of science expands?

Great scientists would have produced a fighter jet by now or perhaps a successful aircraft engine, instead of importing GE-303 for Tejas, purchasing Rafales, Sukhois and MQ-9 drones. Heck, DRDO cannot even produce a battle-rifle, look at the AK 203s replacing the INSAS failure.

It's wrong to say that Chandrayan 2 was a failure. Chandrayan 2 was a huge success! It gave several stepping stones of incredible magnitude which alone are the reasons for reaching the milestone, called success of Chandrayan 3. In short both are huge milestones in the march of Bharat becoming a "Spaceguru" before becoming a Vishwaguru under the dynamic leadership of Modiji.
This is a concept used in some critical industries called exception based design.. there are other concepts as well like tradeoff analysis method etc, and these are proven techniques... very heartening to hear these technical terms and procedures.... too good... this was missing badly earlier...
Its good that they worked on how to deal with things that could go wrong. But I think one more important thing is they must not let their guard down on things that went well or as expected because in space anything can happen.

It's wrong to say that Chandrayan 2 was a failure. Chandrayan 2 was a huge success! It gave several stepping stones of incredible magnitude which alone are the reasons for reaching the milestone, called success of Chandrayan 3. In short both are huge milestones in the march of Bharat becoming a "Spaceguru" before becoming a Vishwaguru under the dynamic leadership of Modiji.
This is a concept used in some critical industries called exception based design.. there are other concepts as well like tradeoff analysis method etc, and these are proven techniques... very heartening to hear these technical terms and procedures.... too good... this was missing badly earlier...
Its good that they worked on how to deal with things that could go wrong. But I think one more important thing is they must not let their guard down on things that went well or as expected because in space anything can happen.
ISRO has more than 90% success rate by keeping it simple. Complexity atimes will cause issues.
