Brilliant, this has made my day ! The first car I can remember was my late Dad's Victor 101De Luxe saloon which was a '66 D reg in Grey or "Silvery Grey" as he called it. I used to ride perched on the edge of the bench seat , holding onto the dashboard! It did have static front belts but I was too little for them anyway. It had the manual column change , the interior was a mid grey "leatherette" in Dad's words , Lol , he called the quarter lights "Dickie Windows" 😅 The twin tone horn was loud , I loved blowing it even if I kept getting told off 😊 Sadly by 1974 it was a dangerous rust bucket, but the engine lived on for several more years in a neighbour's 101 Estate .

@@quarterlight Out of curiosity, I Googled "Ambla" and was amazed to see they are still making upholstery materials here in the UK ! I'm guessing the "Leatherette" in Dad's car was one of their products.

My two strongest memories about my Dad's 1967 deluxe estate were, firstly, trying to drive across the alps with a caravan on the back - it would only go up hill in 1st gear (3-sp column change) and, because of the drum brakes, we came all the way down in 1st gear too. There were some very angry drivers behind us!. Second memory is that due to the font and rear bench seats and a large boot, you could carry a driver and 12 cub scouts home from camp (no seatbelts in those days!).

Another interesting vid, the blue saloon shown at 6.06, 631 PYW, must have been a very early illustration, it looks like it’s fitted with the FB rear lamps and not the 101 spec ones. They were a great looking car, shame there aren’t many left.

great video! i love 60s vauxhalls( all classics from that decade in fact) the victor FC was a beautiful car and the bigger PC cresta was even nicer, of course ambla was a cheaper leather look interior which also featured on the last of the Jaguar mk2 range

Yes, I have fond memories of the FC, but my Dad's FD 2000 Estate with its American coke bottle styling was my absolute favourite.

My dad had 2 FC 101s, a 1966 GNV201D in Blue and a Green 1967 OLM493E which could have been an ex government car we went to Poland in both of these while he owned them to see family in the late 60s.The last time we went in 1973 we had the Victor FD 2000 SL CYP314H , we had Victors up to the Transcontinental. Then my dad changed to Fords. My 2nd car was a 1973 special edition i bought in 1976 with only 15000 miles. My dad had a big thing for bench seats and column change, the last bench was in early Transcontinental's with a floor change.

    beautiful styling!
i love car brochure texts. when they point out all the improvements they basically admit the previous model was a piece of shit that you ve been talked into buying despite being badly engineered and not well thought through😉

The 101 reg = 631 pyw appears to be a pre production model , judging by the fact its carrying the larger vauxhall velox/cresta rear light assembly from the PB series of 6 cylinder cars circa 62 to 66 , the 101 was released in 64 , don't be fooled by the pre 63 number plates, not all 63 and early 64 cars carried the A and B prefix, those early A and B registration plates were london registered and moved out to cover the whole of England by early 64 , the last 101s appeared on an F registration = late 67 .
