Gauteng police conduct Operation Shanela in Randfontein

Gauteng Provincial Commissioner Elias Mawela is today leading the weekly Operation Shanela, starting in Randfontein. The anti-crime operation is aimed at helping police stations stamp out the scourge. Michelle Craig is in Randfontein with the SAPS top brass.

If the police were Intelligent. News media broadcasters would not be advertising where there operations are located. They should sporadically move every 2 to 3 hours to cover more ground. Another thing is why should wardens drive x1 BMWs is that not a waste of budget. I mean you can buy 2 pollos for the price of 1 BMW. Who ever is making decisions must be asked critical questions.

Mxm , what are they doing with the zama zama's. The whole of Main Reef Road from Joburg, till Randfontein Road is infested with illegal miners.
These illegal miners are not contributing to the economy. We as a tax paying Citizen see no fruitful results.

Media needs to respect privacy of people

That's not how it works. The media are given powers by law to record and question people in a way that a normal civilian is not allowed to. But they are not allowed to just record and harass people for no reason. Their code of conducts encourages them to only record people who are relevant to the story they are pursuing.
So the people who are recorded in this clip are people who were on the scene during shanela, so the media is not doing anything wrong by showing them on camera while they are finding more information about shanela.
