Same here!!! I have land that was passed down from my grandfather, who bought the land when he returned home after surviving 4.5 years total deployment, ending with the battle of Okinawa during WW2. He saved every possible dollar while deployed and purchased nearly 200 acres of land. Being a farm boy with nothing more than a 3rd grade education, his plan was to develop his own farmland. At the time, everyone said he was crazy for thinking he could turn 200 acres of largely wooded and forested land into farmland. He managed to defy the odds and created a successful farm that supplied the family with beef, pork, chickens, milk, and vegetables. He and my family were able to fully live independently from producing food and goods for nearly 40 years while simultaneously profiting well enough to live very comfortably. As time went on and he and his brothers(my great uncles)had children, he turned a large portion of the land into a family neighborhood. In the late 1990s, a very popular highway system came directly through the center of what remained farmland. Fast forward to the present day, the entirety of my dad's side of my family still live there, and I was left a house and several acres of land. A farmboy with a 3rd grade education created a home, wealth, and potential wealth for 3 generations currently. This story really hits home with me.

I had to come to this story after hearing about Rob's passing. This story hits home very hard for me because of my grandfathers life story. My grandfather purchased land when he returned home after surviving 4.5 years total deployment, ending with the battle of Okinawa during WW2. He saved every possible dollar while deployed and purchased nearly 200 acres of land. Being a farm boy with nothing more than a 3rd grade education, his plan was to develop his own farmland. At the time, everyone said he was crazy for thinking he could turn 200 acres of largely wooded and forested junk land into farmland. He managed to defy the odds and created a successful farm that supplied the family with beef, pork, chickens, milk, and vegetables. He and my family were able to fully live independently from producing food and goods for 40 years while simultaneously profiting well enough to live very comfortably. As time went on and he and his brothers(my great uncles)had children, he turned a large portion of the land into a family neighborhood. In the late 1990s, a very popular highway system came directly through the center of what remained farmland. Fast forward to the present day, the entirety of my dad's side of my family still live there, one of my uncles has a very successful automotive shop there, two big name companies have purchased and built stores on some of the land, and I was left a house and several acres. A farmboy with a 3rd grade education created a home, wealth, and potential wealth for 3 generations currently. I like to listen to this story by Rabbit from time to time. It's as if he's telling my grandfather's story with his epic storytelling voice and skills. R.I.P. Rob'The Ebay Bandit' Pitts!!

It's a cool story about using his 401k that he had maxed out for years and cashing it out to buy the land in 1977. The only thing is, the 401k plans were not around until 1978, which is after the story says he had closed it. He bought the new Jag a year after closing the deal in 1978, which is the year that the first 401k plan was launched.

Fast forward to last week when I dropped the finished masterpiece off at the customers house, they absolutely loved it, I’ll be damned if it didn’t pay off pretty damn well too. He also was not a moron and "pissed" away all the money on stupid unnecessary material possessions, he was very wise, paying back his brother the $50,000 and giving him interest even.
