  • From 5.-7. of November 2021the Bricking Bavaria (www.bricking-bavaria.de/) LEGO exhibition took place at Friedrichshafen (Fazination Modellbau Friedrichshafen). At this exhibition we showed our models on the Technic Action Area. Like this many MOC trucks and cars can be seen in action. It goes from race cars over dump truck to heavy duty trucks. Most of the models are built in scale 1:17 and developed or modified by the exhibitors. Furthermore, there are two gravel plants where 1x1 round bricks can be handled with the models. Most of the models are remote controlled and controlled via SBrick, Buwizz or Powered UP. Further information about the models and builder you can find here:

    I played with Lego kits since my early child days until I was about 11 or 12. I had many sets between 1988 and 1999. I built many of my own ideas too. Yet I'm still always amazed by how versatile this toy is.

      I know. I'm in my 50's, LEGOs have changed so much in all these years, it's pretty amazing.
      But the one thing that hasn't changed is how expensive they are. Might as well be gold.
      LEGOs are are valuable, one of the most versatile building materials. That just adds to the inherent cost of the plastic.
      I don't know how these people afford these projects.

    • @functionalTechnic
      @functionalTechnic  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes, it is expensive and the sets are more expensive each year. I buy only a few sets and always after 1-1.5 years after the release with big discounts. But it is still expensive.

    Pretty neat. My only recommendation (coming from RC) would be to slow down your servos on the steering to make it look more realistic... twitchy wheel turns to full lock in 0.045 seconds looks... odd hehe, also a soft start ESC to bring the power on gently would improve acceleration in the same way.

    • @functionalTechnic
      @functionalTechnic  2 ปีที่แล้ว +33

      hi, totally agree with you. Unfortunately, we don't have so nice radios as you have in RC. In LEGO it works with bluetooth and with camecontroller. We are allready happy if servo motors are available and work properly. Theoretical it should be programable what you mean. But this is out of reach with my coding skills ;)

    • @ec5838
      @ec5838 2 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      @@functionalTechnic Ah I wondered about that. Your explanation makes sense. I was thinking one might be able to use common RC components and 3d print adapters to clip into Lego bricks, I've done that with Raspberry Pi components and it works great! But there might not be the space, idk...

    • @functionalTechnic
      @functionalTechnic  2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@ec5838 you can do alot custom stuff and i'm sure it would be possible to control the model with raido control but it would be alot of effort to make it for each model. But the control and range would be much better fore sure

    • @GeorgeTsiros
      @GeorgeTsiros 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@ec5838 i have bit of experience with rc, lego and coding. The main issue is that there aren't many well-built _physical_ controllers that can interface by themselves with the lego receivers (transceivers, really). But! now that lego has given the specification for the bluetooth comm protocol, it is quite likely you will see diy radios that use sticks, instead of using a phone and its touchscreen. The difference in controllability between even a cheap electric rc and the best lego rc is night and day. The lego one is almost uncontrollable.

    Und jetzt um alle AFOLs zu triggern:
    Da sind bestimmt auch Modelle mit Teilen alternativer Klemmbausteinhersteller dabei!!
    Aber da sind echt schon coole Modelle dabei. Ich wäre viel zu unkreativ mir das selber auszudenken. :)
    Der dicke Liebherr Kran und der Schwerlasttransport sind meine Favoriten.

      Nein, eigentlich nicht. Möglich, dass ein paar China und RC Reifen dabei sind. Was natürlich nicht LEGO ist aber aus dem RC-Berich kommt sind all die Lipos, Stepdown Converter, Lichter und Hupen. Sonst natürlich noch Sbricks und Buwizzs für die Fernsteuerung.
