My nutritionist instructor said that if you crave inedible things like metal, clay, soil, it means if you have a deficiency that those things might contain. I have anemia and I used to suck spoons and forks after meals but when I started taking iron supplements, that habit went away. That’s why when you notice something strange, its always smart to see the doctor..

This lady has a clear cut case of pica. She definitely has mineral deficiencies driving her to crave clay so much. I can almost guarantee that if she received supplemental treatment for her deficiencies, she would stop having this craving. Also psychological treatment would be needed, as this is also a mental compulsion.
Yes, she needs to have her iron checked...STAT.
They did lab work and all came back fine. I would hope they would do a heavy metals panel, but a standard CBC would indicate some of that iron being out of whack. I hope that doc ran plenty of tests too.

I feel like you can guess the taste of wet rocks from the smell alone. Like rocks in rain have a distinct earthy mineral smell, so i’d automatically assume they taste as such.

There are some edible versions or this stuff but I'm still worried about her health. She probably had Pica a disorder that makes you eat non food items which leads to health problems. She really should talk to a doctor about it. Most people on this show probably have Pica actually.
I say that all the time. Pretty much everyone on the show who has an addiction to eating something they arent supposed to, most likely has Pica.

It frustrating that every episode I've seen on this show everyone ends up being fine so they keep doing it thinking it won't hurt them. Its like undereating or obesity. It can cause horrendous health problems now, gradually, or your body just finally hits a breaking point and you don't come back from it even if it's 30 years later
I'm just so glad that she had Nathaniel. The other day, I also watched a video about a lady who was addicted to mattress foam. She had her brother to tell her to see a doctor, and the effects were life-threatening. Just imagine all the people who don't have someone who convinces them to see a doctor...

Main cause of clay eating is LACK OF IRON and other elements in the body, in AFRICA pregant women eat it alot and think it's Normal. But it's not once you get enough of the supplemental elements that urge dissapears

Actually this is kinda legit, in that women tend to crave "rock like" things sometimes when they are super nutrient deficient or sometimes when they are pregnant (like how people with low iron crave ice). There's a really good Emmy's Made video about edible clay, and how because of this it's still eaten in certain cultures. I think what happened with her is she was nutrient defficient, saw the clay mask, and her brain made the connection that she was craving clay. She ate it, and it satisfied her- but because she was eating mask it wasn't nutrient dense like actual edible clay, so she was become MORE nutrient deficient especially since she was replacing meals with it. And it just kept spiraling.
I'm so surprised no one else mentioned the fact that there is edible clay and how its quite common in other cultures for women, especially those pregnant, to eat it regularly. I love edible clay it's quite tasty and comes in many "flavors".

I have an addiction to ice.. I use to eat 2-3 big cups a day but now I barely eat it bc I fight the urges but I crave it all the time.. it started when I was pregnant and stuck after my baby was born. My daughter is 2 now😩

Omg my mom (who's had five children) also used to eat ice A LOT I don't notice her really do it much anymore but she doesn't eat red meat at all after she gave birth to me because it gave her back pain. I had no idea this could be why, thanks you just made me realize something although I guess it doesn't matter too much because I've isn't harmful (except maybe to the teeth?)
I’ve heard that if you crave ice you might be anemic… because your body tries to fill in the gaps for things it’s missing. Have you gone to your doctor about it?

Somewhat related: I once had an intense craving for lemon and salt. So I cut up one lemon, and sprinkled it with salt and ate that. Then I couldnt stop, and basically ate 10 lemons in one night. The next morning, I felt fine and suddenly didnt crave it anymore

Craving dirt, soil, clay, rock is alot more common than people think. I know several older women from the south who will eat a tablespoon of earth straight out of the garden. Personally I don't understand craving that but to each their own. As far as the commercial cosmetic face masks this woman consumes I would really worry about all the added chemicals, not so much the clay/mud. It would probably be much healthier for her to eat straight clay.
