He can play any champion as a support because he understands how to counter enemy support players. He knows what they are looking for and preemptively adjusts accordingly no matter who he is playing. Picking a second carry as a support is very logical IF you know how to make it work which is in most cases majority of the player base can not do outside of Ashe and even then all they do is spam W and R off cooldown then base for mana and repeat...

Another reminder that worlds should have all the LPL and LCK should be at worlds. After quarters, it really makes no sense to have western color casters at worlds, it's not possible for them to know the remaining teams (always eastern teams) as well as casters from those regions.
