I'm not sure but I think you're right as when you rewatch the whole entirety of season 1, Megumi's seen mutliple times at the tip of summoning him close near death situations like when he was facing Sukuna so that can equally be true, lmao he's crazy🤣

First, megumi tried to summon mahoraga in the first episode when sukuna took control of yuuji, and then he tried to summon it again in 'cursed womb must die part 2', and then he tried to summon it again when he was fighting hanami, but then Toge stopped him.
