- This is the original audio and music soundtrack featured on Space Mountain in Disneyland from 1996 to 2003. The music and image are both owned by Disney. I got the audio from the Musical History of Disneyland official album.
It would be awesome if Disneyland could bring this music back for a period of time.
We put our headphones on and synced this song while on the ride ! It’s so fun!
The Track layout is still the same, this soundtrack would still sync up with the ride perfectly.
I grew up with the newer soundtrack, so I was a bit surprised by the original use of surf rock, but this music goes really hard. I really hope one day they do an event where they bring the old music back
I grew up with the old when my family heard the new one we where like eeeeeek
This was written and performed by Dick Dale, the surf rock legend.
Edit: I misspoke, Dick Dale performed it but it was written by Aarin Richard and Eddie Sotto.

@@hthrhwood That’s a great idea. I would love to see a re-mix that incorporates the old music with the new visuals and sound effects.
The craziest part is they got the guy who literally invented surf rock to perform it.
Pro-tip: Queue this music up with proper earbuds on the ride. Ride improves 100%. Bonus pro-tip: Make sure to use earbuds that are attached to some sort of wire so you do not lose them.
I would actually play other songs I enjoyed to go with the rides too. 😌 always have my music on me to elevate any experience.
The Song is “Aquarium” by Camille Saint Saens
I had no idea about this. Thanks for sharing
All this time I thought that was Morricone’s original score from Days of Heaven
This soundtrack is so epic, it made the ride. It should have stayed.
Yeah.
1:02 is about where the ride section syncs after leaving the station in case anyone (like myself) wants to recreate it irl lol.
Thank you so much for this, I'm going to try it when our Marching Band goes to Disneyland.
This is basically the cooler version of “Carnival of the Animals - Aquarium”
fun fact about the original space mountain; it was one of the first modern-day tubular steal rollercoasters!
I was expecting the original 70s "soundtrack", but I love this 90s one for sure!
Me too.
Surfing Among the Stars Space Mountain 98
Took me surprisingly long to find this video, but I'm glad I did! Thanks! This is the music I remember best from the ride
Calling this the "original" soundtrack is really misleading - I was looking for the true original soundtrack from the 70's and wasted my time listening to this (it's great, but not what I needed)
I'm surprised that there are no comments on this video.
Oh wait.
Thanks for letting me hear the awesome music to the version of this ride I've never been on.
SonOfaChaosGod The ride is so cool!

Why do I feel like I experienced Space Mountain with this music, even though I was born after it was changed? Like it’s just this lingering nostalgia for something I logically never should’ve seen in my life
I used to see the current music labeled "new daytime theme" which makes it seem like maybe the old one was still used at night, but I've never looked that up
2:12 - 2:15
"To Infinity... and Beyond!"
So this is not an accurate version - someone added about a minute of weird synth stuff to the beginning of this clip that was not part of the original track - which starts at 1:04. Click on the Disney Classics album cover (shown above) for the real track.
Very nice.
2:11: Let the action begin!
They should bring this soundtrack to Hong Kong Disneyland so it can be different
They should swap between both
Buzz light year is here
The first minute of it is just random audio, not the song.
I get it.
This one’s better than the new one
Nah the new one bops
I just heard it last night at downtown Disney
I miss when there was no music at all, just the sound effects of space.
I get this.
Nah the music makes the ride so much better
This is it, the original space mountain music - not that crap they play now.
I get this.
