It is about finding a big enough group of people with a big enough problem and serving that group tirelessly. Sometimes you have a product that serves people in pain. So, Geofencing a hospital or funeral home is totally ethical if your intention is to serve the population because making money may be the outcome but it is not your motivation in serving people.
Stopped into a coffee shop 60-miles from home 10-days ago to meet a friend as I was head through Omaha, NE on my way back home to Lincoln. I’d never been to a this branded coffee shop, but since then have been getting emails from them. How did they get my email? But I assume it is geofencing & proximity marketing.

Don't have anyone actively using geo-fencing in my agency. We are highly specialized in organic marketing on TH-cam and Google. I've tried numerous geo fencing vendors over the years for my geo fencing campaigns and i've seen moderate results as compared to Google and TH-cam.

@@adrianboysel That would be awesome! All I've come across is the exclusion radius process on Facebook (which looks like a painful process and not that accurate). Would like to know if there is software that allows you to target Google adverts to those people who enter a drawn (boxed) geofenced area from 1 to 30 days after entering the geofenced area (and stayed in the geofenced area for between 10 and 60 minutes, if possible to set dwell times).

Individuals can prevent most instances of geofencing by turning off location services on their mobile devices. Most geofences are associated with mobile apps, so either switching off location services for the device or blocking location permissions for each app will protect against most geofences.
I'm glad google is going to start storing that data on users phones, and they are going to allow us to permanently delete our location data. I deny location data whenever possible

Just deny an apps ability to track your location or delete the app if there's no option. Also, use ad blockers.
