    This is the climax of a Saucerful of Secrets. The applause was as Richard Wright took to the huge Albert hall organ and more as the orchestra filed out in full dress, then the choir. It was a mind blowing finale...

    Genius! Something tells me for these guys to create something so well orchestrated at such a young age, they must have come back from a previous life.... I listen to this while I work some nights for hours strait, over and over..... love it!

    People saying that the first part of Saucerful of Secrets is a racked don't understand it, IT'S a song that hasn't come out yet, that's how far ahead in time they were.

    To think this was recorded in 1969.well amazing..Great recording, don't forget the PA systems in those days were less than perfect.proves how good the acoustic's are in the Albert Hall.

    Nice versión i have never Heard it before. Maybe it could be more interesting if the voice of Gilmour was the principal voice in the chorus part..... i Heard SOS when i was 15 .... now im 44.... and the part of the voice of Gilmour is the best part of any PF´s song. I used the climb a mountain in the middle of the valley with my walkman and Heard celestial voices in the top of the hill...... this experience for me was incredibly and made a part of myself, a part of my soul, a part of my personality.... SOS is the most important song (See me Feel Me too) in my whole life. When im at my office..... i turn off the lights and play ummagumma versión..... the last part of Gilmour´s entonation its so exciting for me......

      We all have our memories of the wonderful original Ummagumma double Album.
      Reminiscing, it always makes me smile.
      I was listening to 'Saucer' on the then just released album when a couple of the other guys in the accommodiation started running around banging on everyones' room doors shouting 'There are Zebras in the garden of the house across the road - No, *really* there *are* '
      My terse reply was to the effect 'Yeah right. Look I'm listening to Pink Floyd ....... and they should attempt an act which is probably physical impossible'.
      The following day's Blackpool Gazette (the local paper), front page, had photos of four Zebras which had escaped from nearby Blackpool Zoo being rounded up.

      They did? They released multiple official versions. You have the studio version, the one from Ummagumma, and Live in Pompeii.
      Perhaps not this specific version, but multiple ones either way.

    How wonderful to hear this rarity after all the decades of rumours! thanks so much for posting! One can see, as one suspected, the linear progression to ATM, suggesting that Geesin has less to do with the ideas than he claims. Who scored this? Suspect Mr. Richard Wright. Any info to the contrary? yours, gratefully,

    This version is amazing, the orchestra is spectacular. But nothing compares to live at pompeii version, the voice of david gilmour at the end of the song is something different atmosphere, exciting.
    * The funny thing is that david gilmour only returned to royal to recording Remember That night, all the fault of the cannon at the end of music!

Elle est à la fin de la suite conceptuelle "The Journey" qui comprenait "green is the Colour" (renommé "The Beginning"), "Careful With That Axe Eugene" (renommé Beset By The creatures of the Deep", "The Narrow Way P.3", "Pow R Toc H" (Renommé "The PinkJungle", "The Labyrinths of Auximines" (inédit en disque), "Behold the Temple of Light" (inédit en disque) et ce final "Celestial voices".

      On the "A Saucerful Of Secrets" album ? This was only the first studio version, and it was bound to evolve later. An early and shorter version of this exists on bootlegs, it is called "The Massed Gadgets Of Hercules", and it is yet a beautiful babe announcing what it would become 3 or 4 years later...

    clapping is very annoying but great performance

  • @PaulTheSkeptic
    @PaulTheSkeptic 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why do they keep clapping seemingly at random? As cool as this is, I think I like the studio version better. There's a point in the recorded version where all the bass just drops in at once and just vibrates your whole body. I keep expecting that bass and it never comes. Still, just this chord progression is amazing. There's something so haunting and magnificently desolate about it.

    • @laurensvisser7623
      @laurensvisser7623 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Probably is there, but the microphone and tape machine probably just didn't pick it up. I have owned some late 60s cassette recorders and they have a pretty limited frequency range.

    • @PaulTheSkeptic
      @PaulTheSkeptic 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@laurensvisser7623 I think I listened to this song more on vinyl than any other format. I was obsessed with this record when I was young. It's so dark. The darkest work of an already dark band. Recorded during a very dark time for the band. But I digress. I'm not sure if that's the case here. I can hear bass. I just can't hear the moment when the bass comes in and the intensity increases. It's more a mournful but linear journey than the crescendo that leaves you in stunned silence in the original. But still very cool.
