It has nothing to do with it. Hitler misread things and turned them in Germany's advantage. The nordic folklore is something to be treasured, just like any other tradition. Just because someone is proud of their culture doesn't mean they despise the others.
While I agree that the Germans of today have assumed too much shame for something that they did not personally do, it makes sense at the same time. If you look back to the rise & reign of the Third Reich and all of the atrocities done under it, the German people stood by & let it happen. I think it will be a few generations before you start to see the people relax a little, after those who personally witnessed it (& told their children and grandchildren, etc.) have died. I LOVE the song, though.
