Favorite lines of the song: Fill the glasses one more time and never heed the empty bottle;Turn the water into wine and turn the party up full throttle!
As a fluent Irish speaker with a fáinne to show for it, I can guarantee that 'Irish' is not the same as Scottish or Welsh. The origins are similar however they are in no way the same language. Irish is actually known as Gaeilge. Scottish is Gaelic and Welsh is Cymraeg. I don't like coming across as a know it all, but when people are ignorant of a language I'm proud of it annoys me. There are fewer differences between Gaelic and Gaeilge then there are between Cymraeg and Gaeilge, I admit, but that's about it. In Irish alone there's several different dialects! It's a completely independent language from the other two, ná déan dearmad ar sin!
It's definitely Irish. Hopefully you don't take my previous comment the wrong way. It's just that I've seen some people being told what language it is and just lumping it in as being the basically the EXACT same as some others ^^; especially a language like Welsh which is a long cry from Irish. They are completely different.
I remember learning this is school and forced to sing it for scléip up in Dublin soo it's defiantly Irish and I was the only person who did an Irish song all of my teachers were gobsmackt about the whole thing
+Katie Conner (CartoonFreak) well the celts did inhabit all of those regions and more so its kinda easy to understand someones confusion on the subject of language
Still is a great song. Even after all these years people are still listening to it. I just discovered it recently and since then I listen to it on repeat. #2022
Actually, there are 3 types of Gaelic, primarily anyway, there are many other sub dialects of it. Irish Gaelic, Scottich Gaelic and Manx Gaelic. 'Irish language' is actually one of the most ancient versions of Gaelic, originally called Gaedhlic.
actually there are differences the scotts have hints of french in there language but an Irish person like myself would be able to understand most of what a scottish would say in there own language
It is not yet day, it is not, my love it is not yet day, nor yet the morning, it is not yet day, it is not, my love for the moon is shining brightly. that is one of the translations that I have seen.
I was wondering who singing the songs for your videos. The songs are beautiful, unique, lovely to hear and the pictures for your videos are gorgeous. I love to hear them. My sister told me of your videos and channel.
daniel abbott I don't think you need to, From what i hear the song announces the lyrics in Gaelic, then repeats in English, sometimes the other way around. Someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, :3
I can't tell if I like this song: it includes themes like snow, cold, wind, and music floating along it so the event is obviously outdoors, but the word "party" refers to a indoor collection of ruckus, at least in the Pacific Northwest. This creates a frustrating contradiction. If I'm culturally incorrect, please tell me.
well this IS Irish so there is no Pacific Northwest in Ireland. so that takes care of ur "frustrating contradiction" as far as I'm concerned. besides, ever heard of an outdoor party Eli?
From what I know (having seen a video that translated the Irish Lyrics), it’s an indoor party, and the references to wind and snow are the POV Character’s justification to stay and party till dawn (Nil Se’n La meaning ‘It’s not yet day’).
There's two types of Galic, Irish Galic, or Scottish galic, on the Isle of Man, there's some Galic in their language which is called Manx, so which are you referring to?
She has red hair, green eyes and is playing a fiddle. and if you don't like it then Kiss my boney little lily white ass, the anime picture is not only staying, It looks better.
I'm really not sure if this is a completely original thing, I've seen this song preformed before with the exact same tune, just slower and not as high-toned. (By celtic woman, the band.) I always thought they make up the songs, speeds and tunes themselves, and now seeing it played as if it was edited a bit and brought out as an original creation seems quite confusing.
Am I the only one who cannot get enough of that jacket and skirt? I LOVE IT!

One of the OG nightcores that got me into the genre. Still a banger all these years later!

So forgive my ignorance if I ask exactly what language this is. I honestly didn't quite get which one it was and I didn't see it in the description

Chantal Stolk some of the lyrics are Celtic. It's a different language. An Old Irish one I believe?
It's Irish Gaelic I believe. Depending on the song, Celtic Women does a mix of Irish and Scottish Gaelic.
Its Irish
Have a listen to Clannad, they sing the original version... plus other great songs...
Aye its irish. By the Celtic women.
I was wondering who singing the songs for your videos. The songs are beautiful, unique, lovely to hear and the pictures for your videos are gorgeous. I love to hear them. My sister told me of your videos and channel.

I would like too :) but I don't have anybody either lol
@JFreak88 Chipmonk verson? I fail to see how you could say that, Ok maybe some parts are a bit high but on the whole not chipmonkish.
Is 'up full throttle' an older idiom than I'm thinking? I thought it referred to automobiles, but the song seems older
which could also be Scottish Galic. Irish is Irish.
