I'm looking forward to when you make that Tigris of Gaul helmet. It's gonna be sweet and you totally promised; don't look it up - you promised you wouldn't doubt my comments either.
This is why I subscribed long ago! You do these kind of builds better than anyone on TH-cam. Hats off to you for showing the "1st draft" of the build. Many others would edit it out. The finished helmet is cool as hell. I'm still blown away how you make flat sheets of material into these 3D works of art. Labor of love. Thanks again for pouring your all into these videos. 🤘
Highlander 3 is when he makes a new sword. I think it at least has hammering, unlike the molten iron poured into a mould like Conan the Barbarian and Game of Thrones.
This is a non-existent craft these days and those who can do it are worth millions. You will never get paid enough for you skills my friend. I love your music choice and the way it's not overbearing.
The entire process was truly fascinating to watch. I would never have believed one could take a flat sheet of bronze and hammer it into such an elaborate shape. Thoroughly enjoyed watching, many thanks for making the videos.
Beautiful work :D It takes a lot of talent and skill, to take a complex natural shape (prehistoric animal bone skull) and to forge a metal replica that actually looks like the skull, it is amazing. This is art and you are very good. Plus, the "expression" of the ancient skull is well kept :)) In the movie, the whole armor is just fantastic, the way it fits the Kurgan, it is as if the ancient sabre tooth tiger was somehow alive too, in the back of his mind, like it doubled the legend, the warrior. Your helmet is as beautiful as the one in the movie, slightly different, but looks great too and gets the same ghostly, ancient feeling. And it looks indeed better in bronze :))
As always Robb, your outstanding skill, craftsmanship and infinite patience, make your videos a pleasure to watch. Mesmerizing in fact. Question: what gas are you using for the silicone bronze MIG wire and would this stuff work on brass?
Nice! Love the work.. you can use dry soapstone because of its insulator properties as a backup when filling holes and cracks as you weld various materials 👌
Thak, pure genius. A tribute to my past, too. I remember making a papier-mâché version for a fancy dress party at university. Your version is somewhat better!
Would love to see a Silicon-Bronze MIG howto (or post-mortem, whatever) video! Now I've got to buy Highlander for the third time (VHS, DVD, now streaming)!
Never get tired of you stuff. Your work is amazing and seem truly unique to a lot of other blacksmithing channels that try to make armor from time to time
I've actually always wondered; have you, or someone you've heard of, ever grabbed a "cold" piece of metal with your hand on accident? I could totally see someone grabbing a piece that's around 500 degrees because it's not going to be throwing much heat.
You can take air powered needle guns and use multiple different heads where you have cut the needles indifferent arcing shapes. After cutting the needles to your desired curvature you will need to ball each end of every single needle.
@@ThakIronworks This is an illusion. For example, a customer from another locality saw your work and wanted to buy it. But in his locality there is already a similar item, because a person has learned how to make similar products from your videos. As a result, you stupidly lost money, but imagine there were 100 populated cities, how much did you not earn?
@@ThakIronworks So you have to work less and earn more. And to work for the sake of work is a utopia. Well, over the years, this is a natural course of events, when more customers are covered. But the more customers and the higher the employment, the higher it is customary to raise the price.
One of my favourite movies and villians.
Sets out to make a replica of a movie prop, ends up making a more authentic version.

You deserve far more subscribers
Saying you and your videos are super great would be an understatement
This is one of my favorite movies from teen years.
Amazing, Highlander was a favorite!

- There can be only one! Great movie (really shitty blacksmithing scene if I remember right, but other than that...)... Great build!!
Yes that scene is painful to watch

Tell em torb john
This is the coolest ever. Love that movie.

Awesome work. You should take the other one you scrapped and do Serpentor from G.I.Joe.
Brother, the "plotting" of the points is such a critical detail to observe... there's a whole in my brain !🤣🤣🤣
Brilliant work 👏 👍 👌 🙌 😀
Bronx Love bro
Man, wish I could’ve been to Thak’s classes.
Вот это мастер. Поверить не могу, что можно сделать такой шлем. Круто! 👍💯

Straight argon....and yes you can weld brass with it
Lovely! I think it's fantastic how your can transform a flat sheet of metal in to such deap and detailed three dimensional shapes.

I’m lost for words. Just outstanding work.
Thak is an amazing name, especially for someone making a bronze skull helmet. Super sick dude.

One of the coolest things I've seen in a very very long time! Just awesome.
Wow. Absolutely incredible!! Your work is always excellent and this one is just outstanding. Well done.

I always though Kurgan’s helmet was a great piece. Great to see you make one.
Absolutely love your work what a skill/art you have.
Fantastic work
This a metal art❤...thank's from Brazil❤

I like the highlander movies ,however they should have made a movie of the kurgons back story
totally agree

it happens....you eventually develop a 6th sense for hot stuff
Man this is cool…I have always loved this helmet and had always planned on making somthing similar.. glad you actually did it :)
awww hells yeah!! this was such an awesome build! beautiful work as always.
Awesome video
Love the Highlander! Awesome helmet!! Great work like always!
Fantastic. Think you will make the whole get-up?
Eventually

I will look into that
Awesome!!!
Well wicked
🍻⚒🍻
Spectacular!! What thickness of bronze do you use?
18 gauge
@@ThakIronworks thanks
Better than the actual movie prop
excellent, what shielding gas did you need for the silicon bronze mig ?
argon
can you start with a cast bowl, then hammer it to shape? or is it like cast iron in you cant smith it after? if you can id start off with a cook pot
Apparently you can forge cast bronze...it is an experiment in plan to try
@@ThakIronworks i imagine you NEED good cast for that to work i bet any porosity at all would play hell
What guage bronze was it?
18
Its better to burn out than to fade away ......
13:17 no we can't see xD excellent video sometimes terrible camera
Nice job all childhood i think its was tiger or bear skull not metal
There's a Nazgul in your workplace. Just saying..
They moved in when they realized I've been the one supplying them with armour.
why are you fools sharing production secrets that were previously inherited? You are creating competitors...
In my 25 years of teaching....I have never created a competitor
