In 1962, The standard V-8 for the full sized Chevrolet was the 283 170 to 195 HP engine, not the 250 HP 327. Plymouth had the 318 230 HP and Ford the 289 170 to 195 HP. I would imagine a 327 would out accelerate the other engines. It also appeared some cars had automatic transmission and the Chevy II had manual. Always a plus compared to the 2 speed Powerglide. All of these comparisons are rigged to a certain degree. Those cars were not made to haul 1100 lbs of cement. In my opinion, all of those cars had pluses and minuses depending on what the buyer wants. My dad had a 1962 Fury with a 383 4 barrel which would have shut down the Chevy with the 327. They are comparing apples to oranges here but this was entertaining..
@@eugeneschulte4950 I just checked it out. You are correct. The first one I remember was 1965. I had a 65 Comet Cyclone that was a 289. I also remember the 260 prior to that. The Plymouth valiants were some of the ugliest cars back then, I remembered them from way back then, most the of the ones I saw were usually police cars,
I guess what i can't believe is that in the first clip is that shitty looking Valiant was right on that chevy 2's heals! It's Valiant for me if this was rigged! Hell watch, the Valiant even missed a gear on takeoff.

The problem with Fords, even then, is there was very little variety among their product line. Everything was "cookie cutter", just a bigger version of the same car. Whereas Chevrolets had style and variety in their lineup--every car looked different and there was something for every taste. Not true today--where every SUV looks the same and the only choices you get are mini, little, medium, large, or extra large of the same SUV

@@supergranddad6364 I wasn't alive then, but my dad was. They didn't worry about healthcare. They had a town doctor. And they all knew no one lived forever. Food prices? Yea everyone since the beginning of time worried about that. Because the price of food is what you pay at the market, or the labor you put into it at home.
I thing you are incorrect on the ford 289. I believe you are referring to the 260. I don't think the 289 came out until around 1965.
With almost 60 more cubes, that Fury had BETTER beat the 327
@@cudaus1 Still incorrect. The ford standard engine was the y block 292 in 1962. 289 was in 1963.
@@eugeneschulte4950 Show proof that there was a 289 in 1963. I would love to see it. Then I will admit I was wrong.
@@eugeneschulte4950 I just checked it out. You are correct. The first one I remember was 1965. I had a 65 Comet Cyclone that was a 289. I also remember the 260 prior to that. Even though I'm old enough to remember cars from the 50's and 60's, I don't remember 289's prior to late 64 or 65. You have my apology sir. I'll stick to Mopar's. I had many more of those.
Speed & Powe don't matter, perhaps pre-1973 but to just drive t oh work or Walmart, who cares? Well designed, built, with good MPG is what you need!
The Plymouth valiants were some of the ugliest cars back then, I remembered them from way back then, most the of the ones I saw were usually police cars,
They restyled them in '68, but yeah, that fake tire on the trunk rounded out a really ugly car in the early 60's!
Car 54 where are you ? lol
Wouldnt it be fair to say that the company that's marketing their vehicle is always going to win any races during the promo?
If you try to drift a corvair, you will end up going backwards, a fun amount of oversteer
Why is the taillight out on the "new" car on the right 🤔🤔😳 the Chevy II
Too funny at 15:15. I think that was the Valiant driver. Oh well....shoulda bought the Chevy.
U can't beat a Ford first car on the road
I guess what i can't believe is that in the first clip is that shitty looking Valiant was right on that chevy 2's heals! It's Valiant for me if this was rigged! Hell watch, the Valiant even missed a gear on takeoff.
omg the stupid risks they took-- no helmets, crazy
Wanda James good cars.
Wanda: And no seat belts also no daytime headlights. (Oh, I remember as a kid, on coming drivers would turn on and off their headlights and wave their arms out the car to say we were driving with our headlights on during the day).
Wait no computer to mess up no auto stop no chip key wow can we get it today
The problem with Fords, even then, is there was very little variety among their product line. Everything was "cookie cutter", just a bigger version of the same car. Whereas Chevrolets had style and variety in their lineup--every car looked different and there was something for every taste. Not true today--where every SUV looks the same and the only choices you get are mini, little, medium, large, or extra large of the same SUV
What year did Bob Cook die?
I want a 62 impala ............
got me sold
46:58 hey the impala was the first one to go. No wonder it was the first car to beat that challenge. They should have had the other 2 on 2 other streets and then we can really see who won
Wow it was a real cut throat business in them days....🤣
Pepsi is still better than coke . Madonna and Michael Jackson drank pepsi! Lol
Iove chevy nothing is history and i love old ford iron but i alawys thought ford is more cheap built i even like when old fords have chevy or dodge motors i owned one ford and realy didnt like it i hated that truck then i my budy bought a trighten 2002 ford f150 and i totaly started hating ford right their i work on trucks for people and have put new computers in 5 year old trucks its nuts i wouldent take a ford if some one gave it to me id be like give some one else your problems
Of course the 'efforts' of the drivers who didn't drive a Chev had nothing to do with it, haha!
@15:28. I was expecting to hear 'Beep Beep'
@23:08 What is it with Gun Nuts in that Country?
The Corvair, the car that sold a Million Books . I wonder how many flipped making the Videos?
The 62s and 63s were Ugly Cars. In 1966 they looked much better
