The Trinity Site is the place where the first atomic bomb was detonated July 16, 1945....77 years ago. Trinity was the code name of the first detonation of a nuclear weapon. It was conducted by the US Army at 5:29 a.m. on July 16, 1945, as part of the Manhattan Project. The test was conducted 35 miles southeast of Socorro, New Mexico, on what was then the USAAF Alamogordo Bombing and Gunnery Range, now part of White Sands Missile Range. Roger Muchmore reports from The Trinity Site at US Army's White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico where visitors can walk the ground s where the first atomic bomb was detonated.

Great Reporting Roger! Nice looking guy at minute 4:23 too I wish I had mentioned to you that my interest in visiting the site is a much about the historical significance of the site as it is about the future of atomic energy. What most people miss out or don't realize is what is ahead for nuclear power. Just like when humanity harnessed the power of fire, bronze, steam, communications in the past, Nuclear Fission is the next natural evolution for human kind; A world where free and unlimited energy will be the norm. Moving away from the notion of doom and the distruction associated with this site, places like this will absolutely inspire that bright mind who will one day make this fission future possible.

​@@catholic3dod790 Plutonium is a man made radioactive element. Although it directly proportionally decays (meaning the first few years experience the greatest decay) it will take many thousands of years to completely decay into other elements. Essentially, it will be radioactive forever.
